Her doctor wasn't very much help. I'm not sure if she is type 1 or type 2. She is just on a daily pill for it. I know this isn't very helpful. But are there foods that she can eat that apply to all diabetics. If so what are they or is there a site I can go to and get more answers. Please help. Thanks.

I'm a 21 year old female & have been a type 1 diabetic for about three & a half years. For about the last year & a half/two years, my blood sugars have been high despite my efforts to control them & my a1c tests have been horrible. I am constantly hungry & try to ignore it to the point where my stomach hurts & I finally have to eat something. (I'm talking, literally, hungry ALL THE TIME.) My doctor tells me I need to control my blood sugar better & he constantly promotes the pump (which I've told him I DON'T want, the injections work for me) but when I say that my blood sugar is out of control because I eat all the time, he just says something about females being more hungry at that time of the month & it's probably hormones, nothing to worry about. But that is the reason my sugars are so high!!! I am 5'7" 157 lbs & not a big girl by any means (thank God for good metabolism) but the constant hunger works against controlling my blood sugar. ANY advice on dieting, lifestyle changes, etc?

I asked the question earlier about symptoms before death, I want to elaborate a little bit, I have tried over and over to get my husband to go to the hospital, I have begged him to take his insuline for our childrens sake, in doing all of this he still refuses to take his meds and refuses to go to the hospital, he has 2 viles of insulin left that he flat out refuses to take, I make meals that are appropriate because that is the only way I know how to help him, I am at a loss on what to do and I am afraid I'm going to wake up one morning to find him gone.

My husband of 9 years was diagnosed by his doctor/ sister five months ago as type 2 diabetic. My husband took great pride in his health. Ever since, he has changed. His blood sugar is under control with medicine but it's taken it's toll on him mentally. His sister and I have been sworn to secrecy about this and I am at my wit's end on what to do. For ex: he was off yesterday but had diarreah all day so he more or less laid around and slept all evening until we went to bed. This disease has changed our way of life so tremendously and I have tried to talk to him and support him no matter what but I can't get through to him. He seems to stay depressed but no way will he see a doctor other than his sister, nor will he take any more medicine except for diabetes. He won't open up and talk. He is only 41 but his feet hurt all the time. He did open up once and said Do you know what it's like talking about ED with your sister? What can I do to get him out of his funk before it kills my marriage

I can't stand the stuff. I use my preferred Sweet N Low. I don't who ever thought that Splenda tastes good. It is nasty.

McDonald's here in Georgia no longer has Sweet N Low. I take my own whenever I eat there (I like their chicken salads). I complained to the McDonald's website that they should offer other alternatives to Splenda...like keeping Equal (which is ok but I'm not a huge fan of) and Sweet N Low (which I prefer). Chick-Fil-A does...they offer all three. I keep a small ziploc bag in my purse with packets of Sweet N Low in it.

Yuck yuck yuck. You either love it or you hate it.

Are there any pump users out there who also use Lantus? I was taken off my pump 4 years ago and put back on shots (Humalog) and daily Lantus. I want to go back on my pump and I have an appointment to see my doctor about it tomorrow. I was taken off the pump because I needed the Lantus and at the time, there was not enough research involving the use of Lantus while also on a pump. I've been hearing that many pump users also take a daily injection of Lantus, but at a lower doasge (I take 30 units of it a day). I emailed Minimed but I have not yet gotten a response. I would like to see what others have to say. My pump does work...I put batteries in it, fired it up, ran the self test and it works fine. I even got out an infusion set and inserted it (the pump is NOT hooked up...I will wait for my doctor's approval).

For the past few months I've realized more and more of an increased thirst, increased appetite (i eat a ton but don't gain anything), extreme fatigue and dizziness, increased need to urinate, slight tingling in my hands which go away after a few minutes, throwing up after meals unintentionally, and very strange sensations where I feel like I'm going to pass out and start to hyperventilate after I eat certain foods. I went to the doctor with my mom and got an AC1 glucose test done and the first one said 7.2 so she took me to a different doctor and it was significantly lower so my mom decided that was the end of the testing. My grandma and Uncle both have had it, but those are the only two in my family. I know I'm probably just being a hypochondriac but a) Is it possible I may have it (don't want to waste time or money on tests if not lol) and b) could these tests be wrong? and which are the most accurate in diagnosing?
