I would suggest...frozen yogurt...or sugarless ice creams. You must maintain a diet that is with in the guide lines of your calorie intake for the day. R u on a calorie count? You should check out the source below...it will be helpful. I know that protein intake of both animal and vegetable sources should make up 10-20 % of your daily calorie intake. Total intake of fat depends on the limits that your health provider desires for levels of glucose, lipids, and weight. Cholesterol to less than 200mg/day is recommended. Most of your calorie intake should come from carbohydrates. The amount consumed is more important than the source of the carbohydrates. Remember that you should stay away from alcohol because it may increase your risk of hypoglycemia. Include exercise...it helps. Always carry a sugary item with you when you exercise in case you have a hypoglycemic reaction.

I was diagnosed thirteen years ago as a type 2 diabetic. No Sugar added or Sugar Free are the best. It really doesn't matter if it's fat free unless your really strict in your diet. All the diabetic books in the world will not help you unless you are willing to stick to a low fat. low cholesterol, no white grain diet. It can be tough, but there are solutions to all problems. I would really suggest Blue Bunny No Sugar Added or Sugar Free Ice Cream. I have found it has the best flavor. You need to talk to a dietitian and make a diet with them that you can follow. There are things that were not allowed years ago, but they have found that some of a good thing is better than not having at all and your craving gets too big and you overdo it and get into trouble. Talk to the experts and do what you can. That's all anyone can expect.

Well if you found out last November that you're diabetic and haven't been injecting insulin then you are 100% not a type 1 diabetic, or you'd be dead long ago. Type 1s cant survive without insulin injections. As for type 2, you dont have to be overweight to acquire it. Type 2 diabetes is not always weight related, it's heavily linked to smoking. Also, many people who suffer from high cholesterol are thin because they don't necessarily eat a lot, but eat a lot of the wrong things, like chocolate, potato chips, ice-cream etc

As for the ice cream, if you are looking at it strictly from a carb point of view, premium ice cream is best. The high fat content slows down the absorption of the carbs.
As for low and no fat ice cream, check the carbs against the other ice creams.Often, when manufactures remove fat, they add sugar.
No sugar ice cream usually has almost the same carbs .
You really should make an appointment with a dietitian and get comfy with carb counting.
Add to that a diabetes ed class, a support group and every publication you can get your hands on that was written in the past five years about diabetes. There are tons of magazines too.
I know it can be overwhelming but you are on the right track.Start reading carb values and you will get it soon.
Good luck

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

You need to see a nutritionist. They can help you figure out meal plans. I am also a Type II diabetic, and I have found that the low-carb/no sugar added ice creams are good, but make sure you use the portion size on the back of the container.

I was diagnosed 3 yrs ago at 270#. Since then I am now at 230. NO sugar , flour and bread. Doc put me on a 225 carb diet along with Metformin and it made the difference. Walmarts sugar free ice cream with a few strawberrys is good. Go to any hospital and get their diet book for diabetics and stick to it. If you are above 6.0 then dont venture from it. Get your meter and test 2 hrs after eating and before going to bed, minimum. good luck!
