Yes, as soon as someone begins to feel thirsty, your body is telling you you are dehydrated. What would "severe" mean? You can live without water I think for 4 or 5 days. After 2 or 3 days I'm sure you would start to damage your kidneys/liver. After 4 or 5 days your kidneys and liver begin to fail and you die. Our bodies are something like 80% water. You need it to survive.

Side affects of dehydration-----electrolytes get thrown off balance, you can get dizzy and even pass out. If it is a particularly warm day and you sweat (loosing MORE fluid), you will become VERY ill, possibly fall victim to SUN STROKE if you are outside any length of time.....you could get KIDNEY FAILURE, you would become SEVERELY constipated--which could cause stomach problems as well as colon and bowel problems... and, you could DIE.... your body NEEDS fluids to run properly---depriving it of these fluids is not a smart thing to do.... if someone is dehydrating THEMSELVES ON PURPOSE, it is a FOOLISH thing to do!!!!!
