Hi, I was wondering if anyone know anything about diabetes. I have always had headaches and have had diabetes for 20 years. I have type 1. I have always ran high sugars. But lately I have had headaches come on very bad and fast and then I get confused and my arms go numb and my eye sight isn't clear. This last for just 30 minutes or so and then its gone and I am just tiered after that. Should I be concerned? Or am I just getting some different headaches? Should I go and see my doctor? I hate to see the Doctor every time something is different.

I will really want to try these product. They are clearly aimed at desperate people like us. The nagging question for me is if they work why havve they not been taken up by the pharmaceutical companies and officially licenced.

I am currently controlling my diabetes by tablets (Metformin) which I heart has serious untold side effect. Anyone with any information please enlighten

Ok, so I'm a 25 year old male, 250 pounds, don't exercise much, and you can imagine my diet. Father, also overweight (BMI < 35) has diabetes. Everyone is telling me that I'm at "very high risk" of getting diabetes *soon*, although I routinely check my blood sugar with dad's home testing kit and my results are normal: fasting glucose is usually 80-92 mmol/dl and nonfasting glucose is: 87-98 mmol/dl. So, I do not have diabetes; yet, I understand that over a course of years and years I may develop progressively higher blood sugar, I'm assuming that for the time being I am not going to, as in next week or next year?

I am a diabetic of 37 years, and used needles for 34 of those years. I now have scar tissue in arms, and legs, and wondered if it can be removed, or somehow reduce the enlarged areas?

They have gone down considerably, and are not quite as tough, after not doing shots for 2 years now..... (using a pump now)

Someone I know has got the heel problem Plantar Fasciitis and I think he should get checked out for diabetes as I have heard there is a link. He has also got a fungal infection in his toenails though he puts this down to ingrowing toenails the nails on his big toes have died and fallen off- I have also heard this is linked to diabetes - I wondered why his doctor did not test him for this as he is also slightly over weight and 48 years old

For any insulin dependent diabetics...if inhaled insulin was more common and available...would any of you consider switching to it?

I doubt I would. I have been diabetic for many years and I'm so used to shots that I hardly think about it. The shots don't hurt and using insulin pens make it pretty convenient. It's become so routine that I just do it.

I used to use a pump but it didn't work as well for me as the doctor had hoped and I no longer use it. I take 4-6 shots a day and one of those is my daily Lantus (30 units every morning) and the rest are my Humalog (12 units per meal).

Inhaled insulin sounds great for people who hate taking shots or are afraid of needles. Opinions?

I have chronic kidney failure and also Periphal Neuropathy. I also on immunosuppressants, and steroids because of my lung transplant. My diabetes doctor say that i am diabetic but i dont take the meds because my levels go down fast, and they say its because of my steroids that cause it, however my Kidney doctor say that i have not been diabetic long enough for the neuropathy to be caused by diabetes. My question is does my kidney failure have anything to do with my neuropathy. The kidney doctor seems to believe more that ts the kidney thats causeing it. I am asking this because i filed with the Vet Affairs and they say no way. That it is the steroids that cause it and they wont acknowledge the problem. Any suggestions or help, answers would be greatly appreciated.
