I am a type 1 diabetic and I have high blood sugar, I was just wondering what people craved when their sugar happened to go low. I was just curious.

I "crashed" in the middle of the night a few weeks ago and the first thing I found were apples on the kitchen counter and down two in a matter of seconds-core and all- so luckily it was something eatable! LOL I have also eaten food right through the Saran Wrap in effort to get it into my body fast. I always overeat when I crash and that sends my body into too extreame highs and lows.

I've recently been diagnosed with type 2. Yes, I also cop an attitude when I get really low, however--my blood isn't producing enough insulin, and my glucose shoots above 200 + (normal is 100 or below) if I eat white breads, regular sodas, potatoes, pasta, no orange juice but >oranges< for the fiber to help remove the sugars ect.. because the body turns those into sugar. A lifetime of burgers, fries and cherry pies has caught up to me. Exercise, eating things like fish, diet/no sugar sodas, chicken--without the skin, steamed veggies--amazing how broccoli/cauliflower ect... will taste with a steamer. (don't boil as it will remove the necessary vitamins) However, if your body is the opposite and not producing enough sugar you need to do the opposite and still exercise-- but don't go crazy with the sugars. go to (google) American Diabetes Association which really helps alot, Blessings!:)

I have a unique problem I don't get hungry when my blood sugar lowers that can be very dangerous and has been a real trip to keep under control but I like a small snickers bar when my gets low it adds some protein to the sugar

I never have any particular cravings, but if I go low quickly, Iusually have to eat a lot of cheese/peanut butter/salad, or other low/no carb food to prevent super high sugars.

I don't crave any type of food, I'm too busy going dizzy, feeling tired, shaking, or shouting at people! When it's high, I seem to crave chocolate, but obviously you know that's the worst thing. Not fair, is it?!

Sounds like you crave carbs. I do, for sure. When I'm low, it's very (very) hard not to eat until I 'feel better' -- and will eat an entire tube of townhouse crackers or keep getting 'one more' cookie. Gotta keep reminding myself that I'll be sky-high in a few more minutes.

You're not alone!

When my sugar is low I get real ugly and mean, I don't realize I need to eat! I wish I had the warning signs you do!

Actually I don't think I crave anything in particular but I do use it as my excuse for something sweet...I am, how ever hypoglycemic as opposed to hyper.

I don't know about craving. If it's too low orange juice is good or gatorade.
