There is no CURE for diabetes. You can control your blood sugar with medications and diets. This will decrease the risk of long term problems such as blindness, kidney failure, and amputation. The long term benefits of Metformin will outweigh the risk of side effects. Talk to your doctor if you are concerned. Do not try any herbal or unknown product that claims to "cure" diabetes without checking with your doctor.

There is no cure for diabetes as yet.Research into cell regeneration may lead to a cure in the future but it is years away yet.Metformin is a recognised medication for diabetes along with other drugs.I don't think Metformin has any serious side effects. The future treatment of diabetes is likely to be by cell implants rather than drugs but the technology has to be developed first. In the meantime you can only follow the regimes available.Diabetes treatment has come a long way in the last 50 or 60 years. Most sufferers can lead a normal life providing they take their medications and watch their diets .In years gone by they would have limbs amputated, gone blind or died at an early age. This does not tend to happen now and things will only get better as the years pass.

I'm really sorry to tell you that at this point diabetes can't be cured. Hopefully, something will come in the future.
It would be a shame to get your hopes up and not to mention a waste of money.
Additional: I didn't see your question about metformin until now. The serious side effect of metformin is called lactic acidosis, but it's extremely rare and the risk is only there if you have severe kidney disease. The doctor can tell from the blood test and if this was the case he would never have prescribed it to you. As the GP Dr. Frank says below, metformin is the only drug that can help you lose weight and add to that the risk of hypoglycemia is almost non-existant.

As far as I know, there is no cure for diabetes (type 1 or 2). It can be controlled with diet, medication or insulin injections, depending on the type and seriousness.
Since you have been prescribed Metformin, you are a Type 2 diabetic.
Wikipedia has an informative article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metformin which lists the main side-effects and their incidence. You should research the medical evidence rather than relying on hearsay. It has been in use since 1979 (1994 in the US), so the side effects should be well documented and any long-term ones should also have showed up by now.
Always consult closely with your doctor. He/she should be well informed about any problems or side-effects which you may be at risk from. Your doctor should/must also be consulted if you wish to try non-prescription medication. Diabetes is not a simple condition and controlling it depends a great deal on your individual health and insulin levels.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

OF COURSE THEY DON'T WORK!
These are no more or less than con-men feeding on your misfortune. THERE IS NO CURRENT CURE FOR DIABETES.
These wicked, greedy and unscrupulous individuals are playing on your hopes and vulnerability.
Metformin is an excellent drug, and the only diabetic drug not to stimulate weight gain. Listen to what your doctor tells you, try and eat well and exercise, optimising your diabetic control. Make sure you never smoke and that your BP and cholesterol are good. These are the best things you can do.

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/m1P3q
A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.
