Is there anything that will help with keeping the cost low, since my insurance won't cover the cost? Has anyone worn it for more than the recommended 3 days? Any other advice on using it? Thanks from the eagerly awaiting owner of the pump and cgm -3 days till it arrives!

I wear a similar device - and what helped me to make up my mind is a yahoo group called diabetescgms. There's lots of information posted - including, usert tips and tricks and info on how to appeal your insurance's denial. From what I understand, most people who've had it covered by insurance have had to appeal about 3 times. Also, if you request it, medtronic will provide you with some back up studies to provide to your insurance proving that the device is useful to diabetics.

From a few friends and one family member who used devises similar to those you are getting, they work wonderfully. The only really drawback to them is that they need to be properly cleaned and maintenance per regular scheduling. The batteries last about as long as the manual says, so no worries there unless you're gallivanting across the world and forget to stop and get more batteries that is. As to wearing them longer than the three days, my cousin says they CAN be worn about ten days at a time, but they can cause some really nice skin irritations and what not. The only thing that will really help with finances would be to use the B.G.M. about twice a day and no more. As to the insulin pump, your insurance company should have some type of assistance to help pay for it. Failing that, the company itself will, or at least it should. And stay away from things that have petrolatum distillates in them as they may damage the monitor and the pump.

The 72-hour monitoring is finished with a non-end glucose visual exhibit unit. You placed on a sensor it quite is located merely decrease than your pores and skin (reminiscent of an infusion set for an insulin pump) that archives your blood sugar each and every 5 minutes. on the tip of the three days your docs receive the archives and can spot traits or transformations which will not be able to be tracked with universal fingerstick measurements. i don't understand approximately this company, yet i'm going to be happening a 72-hour visual exhibit unit contained in right here few weeks and am finding very forward to it! it could furnish some incredibly valueable counsel abotu what your blood sugar does as you circulate approximately your day.
