It could mean that your nephew is dehydrated and is not drinking enough water or doesnt have enough electrolytes in his body. To solve this you can give him pedialyte popsicles and they also have drinks or you can use the good old Gatorade drinks that work just fine!

It could be diabetes. This is usually the first sign. An abnormal thirst that will not go away for example the more you drink the more you want to drink and I don't mean alcohol, even with plain water you can be like that. Get it checked out with the doctor.

It be a lot of things, or nothing, so try not to worry - but at his age I'd get him checked out asap (today if possible!) just incase. Hope he's ok xxx If it turns out he does have diabetes it's pretty overwhelming at first but he will have a 'normal' life with it! If you have any questions you know where to ask! Good luck - hope he's ok xxxx

He's only 1. It may not always be thirst, it may be hunger, too. One-year-olds grow fast and burn a lot of calories with their walking and running.

Could be diabetes mellitus (Type 1 diabetes or frequently called childhood diabetes). It could be that he is jsut constantly thirsty. My 3 yr old is constantly thirsty and he is fine. However, my 11month old is constantly thirsty and is a result of his renal hypertension. Please consult you physician/pediatrician because they will know the tests to run, such as a fasting blood sugar or complete blood work up.
