My 4 year old son has been behaving differently for almost a week now. It's mostly behavoral and eating changes. He's usually an extrememly well behaved child, just a wonderful boy that never needs correcting. This past week he has not been able to contol himself. He will have several fits in a day, he's grouchy, angry... This is all unusual. I also noticed he's hungry all the time now. He's skinny for his age and it's usually a real stuggle to get him to eat anything. Now this past week he's saying he's hungry non-stop. He'll eat all his breakfast, 3 to 4 times more than he usually would have and then still say he's hungry 30 minutes later. He's also saying he's tired 'all' the time. He has been like that for as long as I can remember... sometimes fatigue others hyper. I'm very concerned this may be a medical issue after his behavior tonight. He was going from fit to fit and was 'crying' about food even though he had a huge dinner and snack. Does this sound like diabetes?

More info (previously reached limit)

I do think he needs to go to a doctor, I'm very concerned. He's never had a single thing wrong with him and has only been sick twice in his life. I didn't start researching this till this evening after tonight's big fits and crying over and over he's hungry. The problem is it's Memorial weekend and no where in town will be open till Tuesday. I'm very concerned about waiting till then. This has been escalating over this past week and I'm concerned if it is diabetes that his levels are way off. I'm thinking of taking him to the ER first thing in the morning so they can run tests. Should they be able to tell me what's wrong while there or does diagnosis take a while? If I do take him, which I'm leaning towards, will it be best if I take him first thing after fasting all night or should I feed him a balanced breakfast and then take him in and they'd still be able to get the numbers they need?
Thank you!

My friend even if you only think something is wrong he has to see a doctor right away. It could be one of many things. So many things have similar symptoms. If it is diabetes he will become very sick very quickly. don;t let that happen.

Both myself from age 2 and my son from age 8 are type 1. It can;t be messed with and you can;t hang about. Whether it's diabetes or something else it needs to be dealt with ASAP.

Good luck and God bless your little boy.

Doesn't sound at all like diabetes, and its hard to say if there even a medical problem here. Little boys can really pack away the food when they are growing. The problem with children is that all of the behavior you have described is 'normal,' but it could also be a symptom of something since the behavior is uncharacteristic for your child. I think a visit to a doc would be a good idea, but this situation does not appear to be a medical emergency. It would be a good idea to eliminate sugar from his diet as much as possible since excess amounts can cause this type of behavior.

If there is actually something wrong, these are classic signs of depression in a child--has there been some change in his life or surroundings that might make him feel sad, bored, or lonely? If so, then this is completely normal. If not, you might talk to him, and get a sense his feelings. He may figure out coping mechanisms in a short time, or he may need a little help by talking to him and suggesting ways to focus his energy and emotions in a way that is rewarding.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.

I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

no not really,it sounds more like a growth spurt. i noticed some symptoms of diabetes were, my daughter drank and excessive amount of liquids. she was a complete thirstaholic. never could quench the thirst. and a big desire for sweets. the mood swings were one too. have him checked anyway, because at four they cant really articulate whats going on anyway, its more about what you have observed. they can do a blood test, but its a fasting blood test, and its usually done twice, b4 they give u a definite diagnosis.
good luck! i pray its only a growth spurt, and not something serious!!!!

Diabetes can have various signs and symptoms: hunger, tired, peeing alot, excesive thirst, fruity smelling breath... It is definitely worth going to the doctors office. They can do a few blood tests and a urine test that can tell you if there is any concern or chance of having diabetes.
