I am trying to eat right. My doctor recommended losing weight and I have been... I've been losing about 1-2 pounds per week. I'm not exercising as much as I should be, but I'm exercising more than I have in the past. But yet, my blood sugar levels seem to be worse than ever. What could I be doing wrong? Could losing weight actually be making it worse?

If you lose all the weight you've gained as a result of IRS, and maintain helathy eating habits (not dieting), is it safe to say that you have rid your body of IRS? (Obviously, if there is a family history of diabetes, the risk is there, but otherwise...)

I went to a health fair and got my blood glucose tested. I had not eaten in 4 hrs, but had drank a Red Bull about 30 min. earlier. When they did the test, the nurse said it was 145. She was shocked when I said that I did not have diabetes. She said that was really high. She said the Red Bull could have affected it because of all the sugar. But I still don't know if 145 is that high...?

I always hear that, so I do.... but exactly what am I looking for? I've seen pictures of those nasty diabetic foot ulcers, but I am sure they just don't pop up on your foot overnight.

I know this is a forum for people who like to help others and that most advice is given with the best of intentions but on medical issues why do people ask advice without knowing if the advisors are qualified and why do people give advice as if they were teachers or doctors even when they don't know what they are talking about.

Doesn't anyone worry, for example, about giving dietry advice totally inappropriate for someones medical condition and by doing so perhaps making them ill?

Obviously some answers are totally wrong because they vary so much on each question and from 2 opposite answers they cannot both be right, but they never vary in the confidence of those who answer.

For example you will see lots of people answer diabetes questions by recommending a diet including fresh fruit. They would be correct for a healthy person but for a type 2 diabetic the fructose is just as damaging as sucrose and fresh fruit or juice is not good for type 2 diabetics.

My husband's dad of 55 years old was diagnosed with colon cancer yesterday. Everyone is scared and miserable. My question is, "how long after you are diagnosed do you die of cancer? They are talking of surgery is that a smart move being that he is diabetic. Don't they say that diabetic wounds take longer to heal?

My biggest fear is for my husband who is also diabetic and refuses to eat healthy. He eats everything is not suppose to eat as a diabetic. He loves greasy and fatty food and eats for the taste.

I feel so helpless because everyone is sad and crying. I am the only strong one and I am making alot of the decisions.
