My husbands Dr. prescribed these two in one pill and it went up a level on the insurance and he was having to pay a higher copay. After calling the Pharmacist and pointing out that if they were seperated as the two started out, He checked into it and was amazed, now WE PAY NOTHING FOR EITHER PRESCRIPTION. HURRAH.

Just a little information for you diabetics that might work for you in saving $$$$'s.

my best friend discovered he's got diabetes (type 1) yesterday. he's 6'3" tall and wieghs 115 kilos. he's been an avid cigarette smoker for the last 4 years and as of today, he smokes anything between 7 to 10 cigarettes a day. I know i have to get him to quit, but i don't think quitting instantaneously will be possible. what should i do? get him to come down to a cigarette or 2 in a day first and then gradually kick it or abandon asap because of his diabetic condition? HELP!!

So I've read about diabetics and hypo unawareness. Does every diabetic go through this where they can't feel the symptoms of a low blood sugar? I know it's a good idea to test often so you can catch a low before it gets bad, but I've usually been going on how I feel.

This has been getting worse over the last 2 months. I also have to eat every couple of hours. I seem to be hungry all day. Diabetes does run in my family and I was told three years ago that I had low blood sugar. Dr. drew blood to check blood sugar levels last week and things to do with my pancreas and says everything is normal. Sometimes after I eat I feel so tired and bad I need to lay down. I just got a blood glucose meter to check blood sugar and have started doing that for the last two days and it hasn't seemed to be too high or low. I am very confused of why the Dr.'s test says one thing and I feel another. Any ideas?

I have unexplained weight gain and even with exercise and watching what I eat I only manage to maintain my weight. My doctor said I have either high or low blood sugar. Could anyone tell me which one this is and explain it to me (serious answers only). I went to the doctor a while back for this and can't remember what he said.

My husband has injected insulin for Type 1 Diabetes for the past 20 years. We have been talking about him switching to the pump, but is it really worth it after 20 years? I mean, can a grown man adjust well enough to that kind of change? Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a close friend who is diabetic, doesn't follow diet and takes lots of insulin. Lately she has become very paranoid and highly irritable. She also has COPD, kidney failure, congestive heart failure and weighs 350 pounds. She won't listen to doctor or me. We have been friends for 35 years and she use to be incredibly beautiful and normal. Gained 200 pounds in 5 years. She is 55 years old. Any and all suggestions to save her life would be appreciated. Family have all passed away and very few friends left. What to do, if anything or should I just resolve "that you can't save someone from themselves"

For the past week my breath has been smelling really bad, like sour and morning breath and it lasts the whole day. I noticed that it's really bad when I drink a sugary drink like soda or slurpee. And the smell is there even after brushing and cleaning my tongue. But when I drink water or diet soda my breath is fine. So basically this happens whenever I drink something sweet. Does this mean I could have diabetes and my body cannot tolerate sugar, so whenever I drink something sweet it makes my breath stink?? This never happened before.

I had a free glucose test done yesterday at a drugstore. It was about 9:30 in the morning and I hadn't ate anything. My results were 113 and I'm wondering is that high or just right.

I am a 31 year old female with type 2 diabetes. I also have a congenetial heart disease called PFO (Patent Foramen Ovale). I am not on any medication for the PFO because it is small. They are just watching it for now as I grow older.

Here is my problem. There has been a recent study on the type two diabetes drug avandia, about causing heart issues. I was on this drug for 3 years, 1998 to 2001. Then got pregnant and after the baby went on metmorfin. I am not sure what I should do. Get a EKG or what. I mean that was 6 years ago you would of thought I would have had side effects by now.

Any ideas.

I heard a brief news report the other day saying that some diabetics were trying to lose weight by purposely overdosing on their insulin. It's become a new category of eating disorders. Is this really happening out there? Does anyone have any experience with someone doing this? It's hard to believe people would put their lives at risk this way.
