try dlife.com for a diet. It is a site specifically for diabetics and even has a diet program that was researched and started by the founder with lots of help from professionals. It's great and like I said, especially for diabetics. Doesn't hurt to look.

I have a friend who has just been referred to Weight Watchers by his doctor (thus the Scottish National Health Service is paying for it!) because he is overweight to the extent that if he does nothing about it he will be deemed diabetic within months.

This means 2 things for you really:

1. Your doctor has the facts or access to the facts about how Weight Watchers operate and thus can give you a proper answer (if you are diabetic you need to talk to your doctor before going on a diet anyway), and;

2. With any luck, if deemed a suitable move your doctor may be able to refer you there on the National Health.

Good luck.

Weight Watchers has two plans. They have the flex plan which is where you have so many points per day that you can eat. The point value of a food is based on # of calories, fat and fiber in a food. They also have the core plan which is a list of foods that you can eat as much as you want, but you can only eat the foods listed on the plan. Both plans are able to be used by diabetics, but there is not a plan specifically used just for diabetics.

Go on line or ask your doctor for a copy of the ADA diet. If you follow it, you should lose weight. And you can have carbs.....you just need to balance them with protein.
