Everyone's got protein in their blood. There are lots of different proteins that serve lots of important individual functions, apart from their overall effect of helping to keep fluid in your bloodstream instead of leaking out into the body as 'fluid retention'.
If the protein levels are too HIGH, that's another story; that can be a clue to important medical conditions such as multiple myeloma, monoclonal gammopathy and others. That would be important to get checked out, as some of these conditions can be fatal if not treated early.
Likewise, if you have protein in your URINE, that's also important, and often a sign of kidney damage. Again, it's important to get proteinuria checked out, as finding the cause early can prevent further damage.

If you didnt have protein in your blood you would be dead. You need to talk to your doctor about this as there are many reasons for a possible high level of protein being present.

High protein in your blood can be caused by something as simple as a severe inflammation or a severe infection. It may also be caused by bone marrow disease, including multiple myeloma, MGUS, and amyloidosis. It is very, very, very important that your physician pursue the cause of this abnormal lab result. Please follow up on this.
