Yes, too much sugar can cause Diabetes.
There would be no problem fo you to suddenly stop. You might crave it, but don't give in. Start eating healthy and you will look and feel great when you get older and you will lower your risk for Diabetis and other conditions that sugar can cause.
See my picture? I am close to 60 years old. I don't have any sugar in my home, except in my ice cream. I am saddly addicted to ice cream, but lik all things, must be done in balance.
Depression is connected to eating too much sugar

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder. There are two types of diabetes; type I and type II. Type I is usually caused by an attack on the pancreas by a bacteria or other type stress and usually happens in the younger population. Type I diabetics are required to use insulin to maintain control of their sugars.
Type II diabetis is caused from stressing the pancreas with over eating and associated with obesity. Diet and exercise can reverse the requirement of needing pills or insulin for this type of diabetes. If it is not controlled the pancreaus can be damaged permenetly.
Signs and symptoms of diabetis included excessive thirst, drinking lots of water, going to the bathroom a lot .... like every 1/2 hour, eating lots but continues to loose weight, feeling tired all the time and if a a Type 1 you can loose consciousness.
HOpe this is a start. If there is a family history of diabeties you should see your doctor/nurse practitioner for some blood work and a nutritionist to put you on the right track for healthy eating.

I am an insulin dependent diabetic for 7 yrs now. My doctor told me eating sugar does not cause diabetes. It is something that comes from being over weight and a family history. I have always eaten healthy even as a child and still ended up with this. However 80% of my family members have diabetes so mine was a family history. But it is not healthy for anyone to consume all that sugar. You don't have to stop eating sugar completely just please for your own good health slow down always eat things in moderation.

Yes. First of all type I diabetic is a congenital disorder and it's becasue the pancrease cannot produces insulin so it is called insulin dedepent diabetes. Type II diabetes is caused by pancrease not produces enough insulin or the glucose start to resist to insulin. This happens when glucose level continue to be high for a long period of time, which cause the cells that produce insulin to be exhausted and produce less insulin. So better cut down on sugar.

There is some indications that excessive sugar intake can result in abnormal insulin processing which can result in triggering diabetes. My best suggestion is get the snacking under control. It can also lead to weight gain which is also unhealthy

The answer, in a roundabout way, is yes.
You can indeed wear out your pancreas by overworking it with all that sugar. Anyone who tells you different is a liar, not just an ignoramous.

Yes, Type 2. Watch out.
You don't need to stop cold turkey, just cut down in steps. It's not healthy to consume so much sugar anway.
