The question should be "does undertreating or not treating the diabetes pose any adverse effects to the diabetic person?" Since we currently have no cure for diabetes the goal should be to control the blood glucose levels.High glucose levels are poison to the body of a diabetic,( and not good for anyone) injuring the blood vessels and other vital organs... have you ever heard of dialysis? There may be ways you can take care of yourself like exercise and losing weight but all that must be done as part of the entire plan by a doctor You really really really need a daibetic education program Ask your doctor to sign you up for one. best wishes

In the past I've worked with Diabetes Society of the Santa Clara Valley as their Outreach Chairman for about 3 years. I've had Type 1 Diabetes since 1974. Insulin has to be injected and in some case they've worked with insulin that could absorbed in the nose. If someone were to drink insulin it would digest like a piece of meat in your system. I've been married and sleeping with the same woman for 36 years and there has been times with a lot of sweating. So far she has had no effect from it.

there is always a potential for an adverse reaction when using insulin. So always have a source of rapid sugar near by when injecting in case it is too strong a dose for you, or you haven't eaten enough, this is all stuff your doctor should have told you before prescribing insulin. Suggest you see a diabetic educator.
