"Honey is quite similar to sugar, so there is no real advantage from substituting honey for sugar. Unlike sugar, honey provides some minerals — but only in trace amounts. Also, honey is sweeter than granulated sugar, so you can substitute a smaller amount of honey for sugar in some recipes. But honey actually has more carbohydrates and more calories per teaspoon than granulated sugar has. So any calories and carbohydrates you save will be nominal.

If you prefer the taste of honey, go ahead and use it — but only in moderation. Be sure to count the carbohydrates in honey as part of your eating plan.

Honey vs. sugar: A nutritional comparison
Sweetener (1 tablespoon) Carbohydrates Calories
Honey 17 64
Granulated sugar 13 50"

^ Natural honey has about 17 carbohydrates per tablespoon, like most foods you can have it in moderation. Also check your glucose (sugar) to see how it affects you. There are foods that might spike one person and not another. I hope this helps.

In very small doses.

Its still sugar, like anything else, and you need to watch how much sugar intake you have.

Keep a close eye on your glucose level. Being "all natural" doesn't make much of a difference for diabetics.

Its still sugar. Sugar is bad.
