Make a docs appointment soon as you can for blood tests but dont panic. Before I started on medication, my sugars were crazy. Still not bang on over 12 months later but getting there.
Good luck

If she has woken up with a high sugar level, it could mean that she has suffered a hypo in her sleep (low blood sugar). If she does not wake up whilst having a hypo, the liver can release glucose to bring her sugar level back up. Best thing for you to do is make an appointment to see your doctor or diabetes specialist, so you can get advice on how to stabilise her sugar levels.

Assuming she is type1 diabetes, it would depend on the type of insulin she is on as to weather she should take extra insulin to lower her sugar level. It could just be that she has not taken her long acting insulin (if she takes this type) which is usually taken at night and can last up to 24hours and be supplemented by a short acting insulin at meal times.

A glucose level of 23.0 is not necessarily anything to worry about in the short term, but if levels like this continue for a period of time, it can lead to diabetic ketoacidosis. If you are worried you could ring NHS DIRECT. x

Is your daughter on insulin? In the UK at the moment the favoured insulin is one which can be taken when blood sugar levels are high and will reduce it. My control directions (from my local clinic) are to do a blood test shortly after eating & take the right amount of insulin to counteract the sugar level.
One way to reduce sugar levels is exercise. There are other ways but you don't give your daughter's age so not entirely sure how appropriate some of them are!

Your daughter needs medical attention. The glucose values you report are 18.4 mmol/L (331 mg/dL) then 20.3 (365) and finally 23 (414). A non-diabetics blood glucose varies between 3.9 and 7.8 (70 and 140) day and night irrespective of when what and how much you eat. Clearly your daughter's numbers are well above this range. If she is a diabetic there is an obvious and urgent need for an adjustment in medications. If she has not been diagnosed with diabetes these numbers are either diagnostic of diabetes or suggest that there is a serious medical problem (such as a serious infection) which is elevating her glucose. All of the above medical situations require prompt medical attention. Please take your daughter to the physician immediately. I wish you and your family the very best of health and may God bless.

Hi Maureen,

Firstly, don't stress about the nonsence about dying if your blood sugar was that low - this was written by an american user who uses different units to us so this sounds low to her but it's not, it's high!

How old is your daughter? Has she been diagnosed with diabetes? I'm horrified if she has n you've been given so little information from the hospital! This isn't your fault, but get her to a hospital asap! Eating increases your blood sugar, insulin reduces it. Your daughter urgently needs some insulin, then yous need some proper education about diabetes n what to do about it.

Good luck - hope she's ok xxxx

It is important to eat meals at regular hours. Those figures you mentioned must be Canadian figures and they're quite high. Have you consulted with a doctor yet? If not, you have to do this as soon as you can. You will have to consult with a health care team who will devise a meal plan for your daughter.

With diabetes, you should keep your blood sugar level between 80 mg/dL and 130 mg/dL. Your doctor may determine other limits for you because he knows the overall state of your health. At least armed with some information like what we share with you, you will be in the know. You may save money and time in the process.

To bring blood sugar levels down, you have to follow the following health guidelines:

1. Follow your meal plan of healthy foods.
2. Be physically active at least for thirty minutes a day, five days a week.
3. If you were advised to take medicine, follow the doctor's order.
4. Monitor your blood sugar by testing it often.
5. Take other tests your doctor may suggest.
6. Lose weight if necessary.
7. Keep daily records.

If she's hyper, which is when the blood sugar levels go way above normal levels, then she needs insulin to bring them back down. assuming ,of course, that she has type 1 diabetes and is insulin dependent. the worst thing you can do to someone with high blood sugar levels is feed them as this increases the sugar levels furthe. sounds like you need some medical support and advice on how to treat and live with diabetes effectively. allowing yourself to go up and down with blood sugar levels that much and frequently can have long term health effects. please consult a doctor!

A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.

I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.
