Personally, I get quite annoyed about the commericals about the guy who said going on insulin was the hardest decision. Honestly, I didn't have a choice! I was just wondering if any other type 1 diabetics get annoyed by all those type 2's? If so, how to you deal with it? Are you also tired of explaining the difference?

Almost everyone on my father's side of the family has type 2 diabetes. What should I do to avoid this fate?

I know that baldness comes from your mother's father. How does diabetes travel through generations?

I'm constantly thirsty, my mouth is always dry, I have to go to the bathroom a lot, I've lost weight, even though I eat more than I usually do. It doesn't seem like I'm any thirstier than I used to be, but I'm not really sure. I know that my hunnger has increased though. I'm always looking for something to eat, and will eat almost anything to ease my 'hunger.' I always have a bad attitude towards everyone, and I'm always yelling.
I think it'd be awkward to tell my mom I should be tested before jumping to conclusions.
What do you think?

My Dr prescribed Actos for Type II diabetes two days ago. After doing a little research on my own I have learned that certain blood tests should be ordered prior to taking this prescription medication.

Needless to say, my Dr did not order prior blood work.

I am also learning about some negative side effects, possible death, that is really scaring me. Although, the medication has decreased the amount of sugar in my bloodstream, is it worth taking the risk of developing heart failure, weight gain, water retention, possibly liver problems and maybe death.

Does anyone here uses the medication?

Well, I've been doing some research and I've been wondering;

I'm overweight
I pee way too much
I'm of African decent (heard this contributes)
As a child, I consumed a lot of sugar

Now don't call me dumb if some of these things seem stupid but, this is just what I've read and stuff.

Anyone have any other "symptoms" or anything? I will of course go to a doctor to find out for sure but, I'm just wondering.

Thanks,

Will a doctor perform invitro-fertilization to a patient that is a type 1 diabetic with some kidney insufficiency if she really wanted a baby and would be willing to take the risks?

Lately, I've been thirsty...almost all the time. Tonight in a two hour period I drank three bottled waters, and was still thirsty. I'll sit down to watch TV (usually about a 2 hour period at night) and can go through a jug of water (I don't know...probably 1 1/2 litres or so). I'll also wake up about two times during the night and be soooo thirsty...I usually keep a waterbottle by my bed, so, I mean, it's a temporary fix, but why am I so thirsty all the time?

My grandma has diabetes, and I was checked a couple years ago.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I am soooo tired in the mornings (the past two days I've fallen asleep in my morning class, even though I'm getting up around 8 and going to sleep around 11 the night before), but at night I just want to keep going. I don't know if this could be blood sugar related or not.

Anyway, if anyone could tell me if this sounds like possible diabetes (or anything else for that matter), I'd really appreciate it.

What can happen to her if she doesn't improve??? I've been watching her health deteriorate over the past year, it is so sad!!!

I'm an emotional eater and recently I've found myself out of control! I am trying to unterstand the underlying causes of my urges to eat. I am wondering from an educated position if it is possible to stop this kind of behavior relying only on willpower.

Can sounds cause someone to have a seizure?

I was at a restaurant the other night and I got that mosquito ringtone. which is really high pitched and people over a certain age aren't supposed to be able to hear it.

Well anyway I was showing it to my sister and my mom walked up and all the sudden she had a seizure...

She is epileptic(however you spell it) and her medication stopped working 2 weeks before i think...
I know that light can cause a seizure but can sound?
