there is no problem conceiving, but when 1 partner is neg. and 1 is positive the child could be either neg. or pos. If child is same as mom there is no problem, if different than mom only as far as neg/pos not A or B ,than mom will need RhoGam which is an injection at delivery. I am neg and hubby positive, ist child was neg,2nd and 3rd positive and I had RhoGam with my 2nd and 3rd.You never said who was the neg. partner, it only is true if mom is negative and has pos baby,it makes no difference if she is pos and has a neg baby. in that case she does not need RhoGam. Talk to your obstetrician.

Depends. Which is the mother? The A positive blood type has a specific protein that is carried on the red blood cells. The B negative does not have that protein. Odds are you will have an A positive child, and this may cause difficulties in pregnancy if the mother is B negative, because her body may attack it, seeing it as foreign. Check this site out:

father is A +ve mother B - ve . the foetus may have a group A/B/O/AB + / - ve .
the thing is our blood group is governed by two genes.
they may be homogeneous or hetero genous

the foetus if it has a -ve group there is no problem to the mother.
but if the foetus is +ve there is a problem faced by the future foetus .....
there is exchange of nutrients from mother to foetus in the umbilical cord. . . the mother develops antibodies against the Rh +ve blood .. the 1st child has no problem but the future children are exposed to the anti bodies and hence they may die intra uterine. .

A prophylactic ANTI D is given which will prevent the blood form sensitising. hence the future foetuses are protected....

when parents are opposites in type, ie pos and neg, they can still have children, but be sure to tell the obstetrician on the first visit, mom may need a shot of rhogam to prevent her antibodies from attacking the child if it has a blood type different from her own.
