Well, I've been doing some research and I've been wondering;

I'm overweight
I pee way too much
I'm of African decent (heard this contributes)
As a child, I consumed a lot of sugar

Now don't call me dumb if some of these things seem stupid but, this is just what I've read and stuff.

Anyone have any other "symptoms" or anything? I will of course go to a doctor to find out for sure but, I'm just wondering.

Thanks,

You can get a blood tester at any drug store, they often go for less than $10 on sale and have some test strips in for testing, it will tell you for sure. It sounds like a good idea to know for sure.

A) Read the ADA's literature about diabetes: http://www.diabetes.org/about-diabetes.jsp

B) Book an appointment with your doctor, ASAP.

The most common symptoms are excessive thirst, frequent urination, and blurred vision. However, thirst and urination can be symptoms of other conditions, and you need a diagnosis from a medical professional.

And to Steve C - test kits will only tell you if your blood sugar is high or low - NOT if you have diabetes. There are lots of people who experience high and low blood sugar levels throughout the day who are not diabetic. This is not a reliable method of detecting diabetes - you have to see an endocrinologist to be sure.

The sugar made you overweight which is a cause of type 2 diabetes, excess sugar by itself does not cause diabetes. Your heritage gives you a higher risk of diabetes. Peeing too much is not a symptom unless it occurs with excessive thirst. Other symptoms;
tired more than usual
blurred vision
unable to get enough to eat

polydipsia,polyuria,polyphagia

if you pee way too much specially at night

if you're experiencing excessive thirst and hunger that seem not normal than before

if you have a high blood sugar way above (60-110/126mg/dl)

there are lots of predisposing and precipitating factors to consider and you may undergo various test to help diagnose your problem
