Lately, I've been thirsty...almost all the time. Tonight in a two hour period I drank three bottled waters, and was still thirsty. I'll sit down to watch TV (usually about a 2 hour period at night) and can go through a jug of water (I don't know...probably 1 1/2 litres or so). I'll also wake up about two times during the night and be soooo thirsty...I usually keep a waterbottle by my bed, so, I mean, it's a temporary fix, but why am I so thirsty all the time?

My grandma has diabetes, and I was checked a couple years ago.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I am soooo tired in the mornings (the past two days I've fallen asleep in my morning class, even though I'm getting up around 8 and going to sleep around 11 the night before), but at night I just want to keep going. I don't know if this could be blood sugar related or not.

Anyway, if anyone could tell me if this sounds like possible diabetes (or anything else for that matter), I'd really appreciate it.

Also, I'm not overweight, and I don't participate in any sports, although I walk to and from school, so I do get some exercise in.

Could be diabetes, ask your doctor to run an A1C blood test. It will tell you what your average blood sugar is over the last 3 months. Good luck.

When in doubt, get checked. That thirst is not right. I had it when I was diagnosed. I wouldn't go out to eat unless there were free refills on drinks. The other part of it is the frequent urination. Go get tested. It is so simple. Then work on your eating habits and exercise. Only you can stop yourself from turning full blown diabetic. Once you're diagnosed, you can't go back so take very very good care of yourself. You are responsible for your health. At your age you should feel very good. There are many places on line that will give you all the symptoms of diabetes but the test is so simple. Your sugar should return to normal-assume you are eating normally-two hours after you eat. That 80 to 120 and they prefer 10 less on each end of that. If you are over it under those circumstances you are diabetic. If you are close, you can control it with eating and do it. If you are normal, find out why you are drinking so much. Ask your doctor. Best to get a checkup. Lots of luck.

Your thirst could be many things from as simple as dry heat in the house to a medical problem like diabetes. I have included some links that may help. My advice would be to go the your Primary care doctor and get a complete blood work up.

good luck!

Get yourself tested and do it quickly. Could be diabetes but no one here can diagnose. You really need to see a doctor and get yourself tested and soon. If you are a diabetic, he can start you on meds, get you on a sensible diet and put you on the right track. Don't ignore warning signs, It could be diabetes or even something else but you won't know until the doctor can see you.

it may be diabetes. Well one explanation for drinking too much is that your blood is so concetrated with blood sugar that your body makes you drink more and more to lessen this concentration.

One explanation for drowziness is when you have diabetes, your blood cells do not USE UP the glucose in the blood that efficiently, thus more glucose in the blood but LESS glucose that you use, thus LESS energy...

It has a big chance that its related to diabetes since you also have a history in your family of diabetes.

Yes, one of the symptoms of type 1 diabetes is drinking lots of water and having to urinate a lot. You should see a doctor to see if you do have it, because it's a fatal disease if it's not treated with insulin therapy.

You most definitely should get yourself to the doctor. Intense thirst and a close family memeber with the disease is a red flag to most doctors.
