type one, or juvenile diabetes occurs when the body's system for producing insulin doesn't work, so that person has to use injectible insulin to stay alive.
type two, or adult onset diabetes occurs when the body becomes resistant to the insulin it does produce and requires medication to use it's own insulin to live. Type two is usually brought on by being overweight and eating too much sugar and not exercising to maintain a healthy weight. Type two diabetes is entirely preventable.

In short form, diabetes is a disease of the body where your pancreas cannot produce or cannot release enough insulin into the body to decrease the amount of sugar floating around in the cells. Type 1 is the insulin dependant, you would have to use needles to administer insulin into the subcutaneous tissue that would allow the glucose to leave the bloodstream and enter cells. Type 2 is when you would take an oral hypoglycemic which will help your body to lower the glucose levels but is treated in early stages with exercise, decreasing carb intake and losing weight, because doing all these things use up the sugars in the bloodstream. Type 2 is generally caused by lifestyle, being overweight and poor diet. There is TONNES of info on the net though, I'm sure if you googled diabetes, you'd find more information than what you would know to do with.

Type 2 is adult onset, or for people who weren't born with it. It's Type 1 when you are diagnosed as a child and you've had to have injections your whole life. Also, type 2 usually effects overweight people (not always, but most of the time).
