I suspect it's an allergy but how can I find out for sure? It is most annoying for people around me as the presistent throat clearing is irritating. Does an allergy cause any other health problems?

I tried out nasal irrigation and I guess I put too much salt into the solution and my nose stings like crazy after few seconds of rinsing so I stopped. But the next day, I had a lot of thick white phlegm in my nose and throat what should I do? And also, when you take horseradish and garlic, do you get more post nasal drainage? Is it supposed to let the mucus drain down easily?

I think I might be allergic to cats. I went to my aunt's house for Thanksgiving and about 20 min. into the visit, I had an itchy nose and slight breathing problems (benedryl took care of it). This not the first incident. It's happened before and it started a few years ago (my mom is allergic to cats). I cannot be in a house with a cat or otherwise I start feeling yucky :(

I know the standard test is that they use a skin test for it, however, do blood tests also test for cat allergies, too?

I have noticed that i have become very irritable and often snap at the smallest things. I was wondering if anyone has had similar experiences or anyone that knows of another alternative allergy medicine (possibly OTC) that won't give this side effect.

First my right year became swollen and was red, then about a month or so later my right cheek became swollen and red, what could cause this? I am taking vytorin, plavix, and atnenol for my heart, I have two stents, could this perhaps be one of the causes. The doctor gave me a steroid shot and an antibotic for the ear and it cleared up in a couple of days, this time he only gave me the steroid shot with a prescription for the antibotic .

I was having dinner (vegetable stew), eating nothing I haven't had before and about 20 mins later my eyeballs starting swelling up. It looked as if the whites of my eyes were melting and sucking in the pupil. It didn't necessarily hurt but it was difficult to see. I went to the hospital, they said it was just an allergic reaction. I never knew eyeballs not eyes could swell up. It took about 2 days for the full swelling to go down and honestly, I'm still not convinced it was an allergy to food I've always had and still have with now with no problems. Any ideas? Thanks!

When I go swimming I break out in hives and they drive me mad. I have tried anthistamines, seen a doctor (all they said was we don't know why). I can only stay in the water for at least 5 minutes if that. I love swimming and with summer coming on I would love to go to the pool again.

I can have a bath or shower and it doesn't affect me.
Is there anything I can take or do so I can go swimming. I have had the problem all my life and I am 52 now

My GP's just prescribed a steroid inhaler because my airway is inflamed and I am coughing constantly. He thinks it is due to an environmental allergen. I'm a Newly Qualified Teacher and the classroom I was given in Sept has an air conditioning / warm air heating unit. My problems with sore throat and constant coughing started in October and is now so persistent that I cannot speak without coughing (not useful in teaching). I'm taking the inhaler and the swelling in my throat is easing, but not the cough. What can I do to stop coughing? Do I have to rethink my place of work? Any advice would be welcome.
