It's very possible to be allergic to seafoods, sometimes just specific kinds----some folks have a bad reaction to shellfish, like crab, clams, lobster, mussels & such--because of the iodine in them---other people have more general allergic reactions to regular, fish-type fish---all depends on their physical makeup. Other times, people just don't like some kinds of fish, and rather than get into an argument, will say they're allergic--saves time and tempers.
Generally, if someone tells you they have an allergy, they mean it.
I've got some food allergies. I know.

California rolls are often made with imitation crab meat. I am not allergic to seafood, but, I got allergic reaction once in my life time from shrimp (I don't know why). Maybe she has had similar experience.

Yeah, Or she may be confused with "sometimes" being allergic to seafood, because maybe she is allergic to a certain type, or takes a certain amount- think about it

She will be allergic to three kinds of seafood or large parts of seafood. My spouse broke out truly undesirable after gorging on crab at an all you could devour crab crack buffet in Maine. we've had crab numbers of circumstances previously & in view that yet she had no reaction. yet, she has never pigged out on it like that element both. So, there's a reliable danger your freind isn't mendacity.
