First my right year became swollen and was red, then about a month or so later my right cheek became swollen and red, what could cause this? I am taking vytorin, plavix, and atnenol for my heart, I have two stents, could this perhaps be one of the causes. The doctor gave me a steroid shot and an antibotic for the ear and it cleared up in a couple of days, this time he only gave me the steroid shot with a prescription for the antibotic .

Hi there !

It sounds like the typical manifestation of an allergy ??
Are you NOT tolerating any of the medicines you had taken ?
or is it that you are allergic to any of the special "unusual" food preparations you had taken on these days of allergy ?
or is it that you had "some insect bite" ...on these days..? some people respond to insect bites like these..
Maybe you yourself can make a list of "items and medicines suspected" and take it to your consultant and ask him straight...dont worry..he is the best judge...to decide on the issue..
Steroids are given for allergies and anaphylaxis too..
best wishes...

I'd have to agree with some of the other answers, that this sounds like an allergic reaction.

You can suddenly become allergic to something that you weren't before. In fact, you need to be "exposed" to an allergen before an allergy can develop.

In some cases, an infection sets in after the allergic reaction, because the body's defenses are 'down' if you will. So, you may need the antibiotic as well.

I had a sinus infection once and it caused the right side of my face (under the eye) to become swollen. You said you had an ear infection...my doc said that if you have an infection in your ear, throat or sinus, that the infection can travel to other areas in your head.... maybe check your sinuses? I don't even notice that I'm congested anymore...Hope this helps.
