My grandmother Sonia has cancer. I dont know what t do. I didnt expect it. I was sleeping in the back seat of the car and I woke when my mom was crying and explaining to the other people in the car what happened. She lives across the US from us. She was eating lunch with some friends and her face started melting. So they rushed her to the hospital, and they checked her and she has lung and brain cancer. She has 2 tumors in her brain and one in her heart. I'm praying that she will be ok. She sounds fine on the phone, bacause she is in the hospital. She is going through a few more tests right now and the doctors all ready said they know what they want to do with her surgery wise. I'm pretty sure she will be ok but I am so stressed out. If she doesnt doesnt make it out of surgery or if she does, she maybe cant fly out to visit anymore. The part the tumors attacked was her memory so if you say something to her she takes about 10 sec to respond and cant remember things.Helpful answers plz!

Okay so my dad was diagnosed with Colon cancer a year and a half ago. He immedietly had 95% of his large intestine taken out. After the surgery we were all waiting for him to pass gas. This means that the stomach is working. It took two weeks for this to happen. His stomach almost didn't start working and we almost had to put him on a feeding tube.

He has to go in for another surgery to get a colonoscopy bag because he had to stop radiation due to it was making his lining too thin. His wbc's are too low for chemo.

He is almost refusing surgery because he refuses to live a life on a feeding tube. The doctor said that there is a 80 % chance his stomach won't start up.My dad is only 50 and I need him around.

Is there other treatments besides radiation or chemo? What are the chances of his stomach starting back up after surgery..
How does a feeding tube work? can you drink?

I am running out of options and know very little about this.
Any information is helpful.

So I have pinkeye but my doctor thinks it might be a virus, so if its not cleared up by Monday then I have to go back to the doctor. He also said it might be herpes. So can you get herpes by just kissing someone or making out with someone? Or do you just get herpes by sexual contact?

I have to have a mammogram and sonogram and I'm kind of freaking out. Breast cancer doesn't seem to be a problem in my family as far as I know... what other possibilities could it be and what will they have to do?

Call me an idealistic fool, but ever since Elizabeth Edwards revealed her cancer recurrance was now "incurable", I've been confused. How can ANY cancer be called "incurable" in this day and age, where clinical trials are available everywhere? Also, what does "treatable but incurable" really mean? Will she still evetually die of her disease?

I know of folks who were told they were TERMINAL, so since they had nothing to lose, they enrolled in trials that carried some risk, but also a chance at cure. And some WERE cured! Is Elizabeth even considering enrolling in a trial? It seems she too, has nothing to lose, if her cancer truly is considered incurable by "regular" doctors (i.e. those not researching trials).

ALSO, what about Lance Armstrong? His testicular cancer metastisized to his liver, lungs and even his brain!! That basically wrote him off as DEAD -- but look at how many years he's been cancer-free!

Now you see why Elizabeth's statement doesn't make sense to me. Your thoughts?

My 51yo wife (of 30+ years) was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes about a year and a half ago. She has to inject herself 3x a day. She is tired about 85% of the time. She gets hellatious mood swings. She sometimes cries at the drop of the hat.

I am really trying hard to be supportive but am not sure of just how much more abuse (abuse might be too harsh a word but that is how I sometimes feel) I can put up with.

Ever since her diabetic attack (I had to take her to the ER, her blood level was 575) she gets confused easily, has an extremely hard time staying focused, she also has a hard time paying attention.

What I want to know is this:
Is there a support group I can contact for husbands (or just family members)?

Is there anyone (hub or wife) near our ages and circumstances that I can talk to?

We don't know anyone personally that has type1 that we can talk to.

My email is cb865@comcast.net Please write me (or answer here) if you think you might be able to help.

thx

I know a water softener is soposed to help make the water nice and soft etc but can it also dry out skin...it is salt so I would think it could make skin itch and hair dry out. Are the salt chemicals(pellets) bad for you especially if the salt also has the rust remover in it?....

Does anyone out there have experience or knowledge of a cardiology test called "Myocardia Perfusion Imaging". Are there any short term or long term side effects of this procedure? I am aware that the procedure involves introducing radioactive substance into the heart.

Many days, I will sneeze violently 4-6 times in a row. I may not sneeze at all for the rest of the day. Or, I may sneeze hard 2-4 times in a single day. It doesn't depend on the month or weather conditions. I don't live in a dusty apartment, and I've never been known to be allergic to anything.

Is this an allergy?

One last question that I've been curious about for a long time: many years ago, I woke up and immediately smelled a strong scent of vinegar in the air. My dad used to clean the coffee maker with vinegar so I figured he had been running it (the steam carried the smell all around the house). To my surprise, he hadn't done anything. Everyone was still asleep. However, I smelled vinegar for most of that day, and couldn't put my contacts in because my eyes burned when I tried.

This never happened again. Could it have been a one day allergy that my body learned to defeat?
