Yes. If there are any paint chips that they touch and put in their mouths, or they are teething and maybe gnaw on the edge of the piece, it is definitely not good for them. If you really like the furniture, take it out of the house, strip it down, sand it clean and repaint , especially if it is children's furniture. I'm sure if it is new it shouldn't have lead based paint, but if it is an antique or old hand-me-down, it is possible. Good luck!

Yes. Lead based paints on anything, furniture, toys, etc., are dangerous for babies and toddlers who chew on things or put them in their mouths. I'd get rid of anything lead based, and anything manufactured in China. There have been recalls on toys from there just recently.
