Dental - March 2007

two days ago i recieved a dental bone graft, they used cadaver bone, oral surgeon said it was from university of miami, it is mineralized freeze dried bone, and i am wondering how commonly this is used, and if any risk of infection..very scared about hiv, or hep?? aslo he placed a membrane over which fell out as he said it would, i cant reach him and wonder did membrane come from cadavear or is synthetic????

I have a toothache in a back bottom tooth. What can I do to help alieve the pain? I have taken Ibprofen, alieve, tylenol, excedrin, and asprin. My tooth is not absessed. I think the gums are swollen. Also, I have an earache on the same side. Could it be that both are hurting each other or is one causing the other? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

What is the name of a dentist who resizes the gums?
I have saw before and after pics of gummy smiles...what exactly gets done in this procedure?
It looks like the lip is pulled down and secured in a position that hides the extra gums...is this right?
If my gums go outward like they protrude so badly I can't close my mouth what can be done?
I live in PA...where can I get help?

my friend told me that it might be a blood blister but i said i don't no cuz i've ever had one.

it is a dark red color
right behind my two front teath
a small bump
oval shaped
it hurts
the gums in front of there where my teeth r was bleeding a little the other day

My 9 year old son lost 2 of his front teeth several months ago. I noticed that the adult teeth hadn't grown in yet but didn't think anything of it until my 6 year old lost a tooth last night and her adult tooth was almost already fully in. This got me thinking about my son's teeth and I took a look. His adult teeth have not even begun to break thru the gum and what's worse, he has these big black/purple spots on the front of his gums where I would assume his adult teeth are hiding. Should we be concerned about this?

Well I am a 10th grader and my grades are 90 and above. I am trying to keep my grades very high because I want to become a dentist. I don't want to be a dental hygenist because I prefer to be a dentist.

Well today at carreer day, I got to meet a dental hygenist and she told me it was a very competetive field. She also told me the only top 2% of the dentistry class get to become a dentist outta the rest of the students in the class. That is a very narrowing field to go in and she told me peopel end up changing their majors because of this.

I want to know how hard is it to become a dentist? Did you experiance this narrowing proccess to get your dream job you have today as a dentist.

Also she said she only works 40 hours a week and gets paid around 60,000. SHe said she loves the time and pay of her job. Also I wanted to know how many hours does the dentist work?

my teeth are soo un-stragiht!! i dont know what to do!!! and no matter how much i brush them, they look yellow! i dont smoke or anything like that, but i dont know what to do. Got any toothpaste sugggestions, should i get braces to align my teeth? or invisaligin? I cant get a grip on life becuase of my yellowish teeth. and there reallllllly un-sraight!

....... - my friend joe was at the dentist, he had to get the gas for his treatment, when he woke up he felt there was something not quite right but it was not his teeth. Anyway he never thought anything about it until he went for a wee and his boxers were on back to front.

Well in two weeks my braces are coming off. And i want to whiten my teeth tto make them look not only straight but pearly white. Anyways i'm wondering , how long do you have to wait after the braces come off, to whiten your teeth?

I'm pretty impatient lol. But yeah can i do it like two days later.. or how long should i wait?!

i'm 6 months,& 28 weeks pregnant.2 of my wisdom teeths been killing me for the past 7 months and i don't know if i should wait till the baby is out or take them out now. doctors say it's fine, but dentists says it's not.I heard i can have gum disease if your wisdom teeth is impacted and it can affect the baby, but having surgery can also harm the baby, right? i will have to take medications which will affect my unborn baby. it's like bad both ways and i'm extremely frustrated and confused. My pain keeps me up at night and i sometimes cry because i have to suffer. I tried seeing a dentist and he didn't want to give me an x-ray. i heard anasthesia can go to my bloodstream and go to the fetus too. I also have no insurance and currently applying for free insurance and i don't even know if they'll cover my expenses for wisdom teeths since they're thousands of dollars, right?I'm afraid to have a premature baby from the bacteria. Basically, what should i do? what's the best thing to do?

Hey I have a varry healthy mouth and white teeth and i floss every night and morning i gargul twice a day with peroxide and crest whitening i brush with a oral-B tooth brush i dont eat chocklett because its just grose and i havent ate ice cream or candy because i know how bad that is for you. soooo can any geious please tell me why im in pain when i eat.?
