First of all congratulations on getting braces. I am getting my braces on the 29th also. You should probably go to school on that Thursday and let your teachers know that you may not be there on Friday so you can find out what you will be missing. Most people are pretty sore especially the day after, so going to school on Friday all depends on how you feel when you get up. People are usually sore for just a few days or sometimes a week after. You should be fine to go back to school on Monday. You might be a little sore, but it should be tolerable. I wish you the best of luck.

Lucky you on the spacers, those were the worst pain ever!!!!
I just got braces 6 weeks ago. I went back to work after I got them and the only problem is going to be finding food soft enough to eat. Your teeth will be very sore the first few days.
You should be fine going to school and then going to the ortho on Thursday.
Be sure and take some advil to keep the pain low.

I think you should go to school in the morning before your appointment, but if you can have the day off on Friday, I would take it. Your mouth will probably be really sore. Then you can have Friday and the weekend to deal with the pain control and be used to the braces before school again.

Good luck. I had braces when I was in middle school for 2 years. When you are done, be sure to wear your retainer. I didn't and my teeth went back to the way they were pretty much.

I think you'll probably get just the bands attached on your next visit. When I got my braces, I hardly noticed the bands when they were installed. It wasn't until the wires were attached and tightened that I felt any pain. The pain subsided after a couple of days.

So, I think you should be able to go to school on the 29'th.

Good luck!

when i got mine i went to school and then left (my appointment was at about the same time)

then if you take some Tylenol or Advil your teeth should only hurt a little when you eat.You should be fine to go to school the next day just make sure that you eat soft foods for lunch.
