I have a tooth hurting, and went to the dentist, he said i dont have no cavities, the gum looked good, and the xray looked fine. He said sometimes teeth can start hurting for no reason, and than go away. Is this true? It still hurts.

How long after you have your braces off do you have to wear a retainer? And do you wear it every night?

I had my teeth straightened about 7 years ago and wore my retainers as required by my orthodontist. I am currently wearing my retainers every other night. When I remove my retainers in the morning I soak them in efferdent with warm water and leave them in there for 36 hours until I wear my retainers again. I of course rinse them thoroughly with water before putting them back in my mouth. The problem that I am noticing is that I have a stain on my front teeth that is basiacally a line going across the teeth where the retainers have been. I guess it has been developing for years. Is there a way to prevent this stain getting worse or cleaning it? Have I been doing something wrong with my retainers? Any help would be appreciated.

m 18 years old and I have no idea why my this would be happening to me so I looked around on here for people who may have had the same problem and most answers says that the problem may be a minor gum disease of some sort and the best thing to do is to see a dentist right away. My question is how does a procedure like that go? they wont have to take my tooth out or anything will they?

Just come back from the dentist. Have been told that there is slight decay inside my tooth. he picked up something 2 years ago, and the xrays show a tiny darkened area suggesting slight decay between 2 of my teeth.

I am in no pain and haven't noticed anything.

He says I need to have a filling. However it concerns me because he will need to drill a hole between my teeth to get to it. I feel that this will cause futher future problems to occur than if I just leave it as it is. What do you guys think?

I also know he is a private dentist, and will charge me almost £70 for it..

2 weeks ago I got a small piece of fish stuck between my last bottom wisdom tooth and my gums. It got infected and swollen and I popped it and a foul tasting liquid came out (sorry I know that is gross) I went to the dentist and he cleaned my teeth but the swelling had gone down and he told me I should be okay. During the day I could taste the foul liquid sporadically but I felt no swelling, today I woke up and it is swollen again, obviously I will have to go back to the dentist but if anyone has any input I would like to hear it. Thanks

I have pain in a tooth i had root canal treatment on a couple of months ago. I went to dentist and got prescribed antibiotics but no change so went back and he has put me on a higher dosage and if the pain and sensitivity does not go by next week he will do the root canal again.

I am just worried about taking the higher dosage and the side effects of taken too many antibiotics. Can anyone give me their experiences? The antibiotics are Amoxicillin and Metronidazole

This root canal was done several months ago, and from the beginning it didn't feel right. I went in to have it checked a couple times and was told it was fine. A few months passed and it hadn't really changed, then I woke up and there was a large absess growing off of the side. I was put on antibiotics and it was cleaned and was better for a while then it came back. I was put on antibiotics 2 more time with the same results (it has cost me about $150 for antibiotics). I just called again to say it was back and my dentist told me to make an appointment with the specialist, but to let them know I had a recent x-ray so I wouldn't have to pay for another. Is this right? Shouldn't they back up their work that cost me about $1000 dollars? I don't have insurance and truly can't afford to see a specialist, is there anything I can do? Thanks so much for any advice.

why is it that there are more male dentists than female dentists? it couldnt be because its a difficult field, because there are plenty of female medical doctors, which is just as difficult to get into. so what gives?

Right now, my teeth are aching, even though three of my teeth on the left side were filled (white composite, if that makes any difference) in November. Whenever I drink or eat something hot or cold, I have this agonizing pain on that side. I usually try to direct hot or cold foods to the right side of my mouth, but it doesn't always work out. I can't even drink from school water fountains anymore. And now, my teeth are throbbing with pain for no reason. :(

ok so can the teeth gap (two upper front teeth) be closed by using retainers, but without getting braces (so just retainers) ??? and are there any other solutions for closing the gap? (that's not too expensive)?

and also how much would invisalign cost for fixing the gap?

I'm considering getting Invisalign. I'm removing some spacing on my 2 main upper front teeth, completely normal.

but the dentist told me its perfectly healthy, common and normal to have very very minor spacing in between at such places like you know that "dracula" tooth and then the one more into the mouth.

is this true?

ive seen people with no spaces at all. other with the tiniest hint of the space, which i think my dentist wants to go for. i just want to make sure im getting my moneys worth when i invest with invislaign.

thanks.
