How long after you have your braces off do you have to wear a retainer? And do you wear it every night?

I had my braces off 6 years ago, they told me to keep wearing my retainer until it didn't hurt to wear it. In other words, when you wear your retainer now it doesn't hurt or feel sore. But if you don't wear it for a while and then try to put it back in, it will feel tight because your teeth have shifted and aren't in the exact mold of the retainer anymore. It's nothing to worry about, teeth shift naturally. But if you just got your braces off, I would keep wearing your retainer at night as often as you possibly can. You don't want to ruin all the hard work your braces did!

ussually it's two years. there are orthodontics who put the wires on the lingual surfaces of the teeth so that you won't need to wear retainers anymore. because retainers retain the teeth so that it won't drift. our teeth has the tendency to move that's why after the ortho treatment you need to wear your retainers. i think it's better to wear in the morning because at night we're unconscious and what if accidents happened and there's a tendency to swallow the retainer but that's a rare case anyway... (i'm just open for possibilities).
