I brush my teeth twice a day. I use proxide to rinse. I am a smoker. The spot is about the size of a pencil eraser. It does not hurt and none of my teeth hurt. What could it be?

Five days before i had a severe toothache. i went to the dentist he said i that i have a blood clot in my front tooth and it may be caused due to trauma which might have happened long ago. he also added that i need root cannal treatment to clear this problem permanently. when i enquired about this with other dentist he told me that in rootcannal treatment they will remove the hole pulp so it may cause some other sideeffect like your eye may get affected or you may get headaches now and then. so he adviced me to remove that affectedteeth and fix an artificial teeth. which of these is a better solution? if i remove the teeth will it cause any side effects?

I'd heard about it, but didn't realise it also comes from nursing. I'd also heard babies don't need water which though mostly true, I'm now thinking it would be a good idea for nursing mothers to end a feeding with 10-20 cc of water if only to clean the teeth. I was noticing that my babies teeth looked chalky not pearly so I thought I'd scratch the surface to see if it was plaque and discovered it was worse than it looked and my baby started crying. His teeth haven't fully rotted luckily they still have their shape but one has a tiny flake that peeled. I will be taking him to the dentist on Wednesday.
Thanks for any experience or help you can share.

My mother got an infection in a tooth that had a filling. Is this common? How often do teeth with filled cavities get infections as opposed to teeth with unfilled cavities?

I had 2 top teeth filled 4 weeks ago and immediately started to have toothache. The pain radiates all over the left side of my face, into my head and eyes and into all other teeth on the left side. The pain comes in waves and then stops for a while before coming back again. The teeth are very sensitive to warm and heat. After 3 weeks of that I went back to the dentist who extracted one tooth. Result: pain as before, nothing changed. Back to the dentsit today. She told me it was dry socket from the extraction. I told her that the teeth had been aching before the extraction. However, she insited and gave me antibiotics. Do you think it will help? I am climbing the walls and don't know what to do anymore.

Has anyone had this done on them. Apparently there is a laser that can do fillings without a drill or anesthetic and is pain free. Anyone know about this? Does it work?

In addition to brushing and flossing regularly, how can I keep my breath fresh? I chew gum now... but is there a natural food that helps with this.
Please don't suggest mouthwash or breath freshener drops or tabs.

My gum is a bit swollen and its very soft in one spot towards the back of my teeth. It's not where the wisdom teeth come in, but sort of close to that area. It's been inflated for about a week now, and I was just wondering if I have an infection and what I can do to treat it. I'm going to the dentist next week for my cleaning, so I'll tell them about it then.

Ok, I have a horrable fear of the dentist and havent been in three years.

Now I know I NEED to go but I have a panic attack just calling around for one.

I have heard that some of them can administer a gas that calms you ar knocks you out before the dental work.

Does anyone know if its covered under any insuraces? Or what the cost is per visit, or each time they do it?

I have New York State Medicaid by the way.

Thanks
