Hello,

I am a FT college student who also works FT that doesn't have a lot of money. I don't have medical or dental, but am in need of dental work (cavities, root canal, etc.) and even if I could afford the insurance plans out there, they don't cover much if anything.

I have searched the internet over and over but can't find anything that leads me to a phone number for low income dental care for people like me. I keep finding stuff that states that the programs exist here, but no names or contact information.

Just wondering if anyone has had a tooth veneered, and if the procedure is ok. I go to my dentist regular so my teeth are good but he said one of my teeth wont come clean properley anymore due to staining, although there is nothing wrong with the tooth,so he offered me tooth veneering so it will blend in with the rest of my teeth. Would you advise having it done or just leave it?

I was told I have gum disease and that flossing daily will help. Ive been flossing and it hurts really bad and when I wake up in the morning my gums are all puffy, is this normal? When I floss I push the floss down as far as I can which causes pain already and bleeding. ALSO I hate flossing, im afraid that when I pull the floss my tooth will come out with it, anything to kill that anxciety feeling?

I went to the dentist for a routine extraction of a molar. When the dentist pulled it some of the root stayed in. He ended up having to put stiches where he pulled the tooth. Now I am in agonizing pain. It hurts so bad that I can hardly even talk. He gave me Vicodin ES for the pain but they aren't even close to killing it. I haven't smoked so it can't be a dry socket. I have developed a sore throat and pain into my ear. I called the dentist but he hasn't returned my calls. Any advice from anyone?

I read online from many sources that root canals can make your health worse and that it is better/more healthy to have it pulled. I have an appointment in about a week to do a root canal but I'm wondering what to do. Has anyone reading this had a root canal and did they get sick after?

My friend went to a dentist several years ago and had some dental work done. Shortly afterwards, she began to notice excessive salivation building up in her mouth as she spoke. Since then...it has only gotten worse. What could be the cause and is there treatment?

when i have a tooth out or filling and the dentist numbs my mouth, it never numbs straight away even after 15 to 20 mins waiting and sometimes the dentist has to stop and give me more numbing injections.

does anyone else have a high tolerance like this? im starting to dread the dentist because i know these injections have trouble working on me.

why does it do this and can i ask to be put to sleep in future?

Is there anything other than using a mouthpiece splint and heating pads. Ive had it for about 25 years now and my jaw pops bad every time i open my mouth and it feels weak. I told my dentist about it but he just said we might could make a splint. I just dont think that it will fix the problem. I was wondering if I may have to have surgery on it to fix it. I heard of chropracters helping it puting it into place but it seems like it would be to loose to do that now after so long.

After my son lost his two front teeth, they have grown in very crooked. I know he will have to get braceS eventually. What's the earliest age I can have them put on and what would be one of the "better" types(invisaline, metal, clear, etc). I should also let you know that he is 7 and has lost most if not all of his baby teeth with the exception of his molars and has not grown any "wisdom teeth" as of yet. I don't thimk our insurance(hoosier health), would cover them(the braces), so we would have to probally pay payments.

Thank~ you so much for your input.

I took my husband yesterday to the dentist because he is having terrible tootache pain, well, the doctor said that they have to wait until the infection clears up in order to pull the teeth out. They gave him some antibiotic and pain medicine, but the pain medicine is not strong enough. They scheduled him for 10-11-06, like two weeks from now.He says that he does not think that he will be able to wait that long, and believe me, he is in intolerable pain. What else can a dentist do to help in this case?Any way of putting him asleep to do it?
