Some times the white spots can be caused by too much flouride in either the water or by supplements. The can also be caused by certain vitamins. Check with your dentist on how to get this fixed.
Some time whitening does not work. My son needs to get caps on his front teeth becuase of his spots however, whitening worked for my husband.

Well if you have had braces you might know this. Those white spots are usually the early stage of cavities. They are formed by food/plaque sitting on your teeth for more then 90 minutes or more. They are not a big deal, but I do recomend you go see your dentist so he/she can decide if they are harmful or not.

The most common thing that makes white spots is called "hypocalcification." This means there was less calcium deposited there while the tooth was developing. NO CALCIUM SUPPLEMENT WILL HELP THIS NOW.
SOMETIMES, you get lucky and the spots are very superficial. If they are, they can actually just be polished away by your dentist. If they won't polish away, you can have some bonding material placed over them to hide them.

My dentist told me that these white spots are surface etchings where a cavity can form. Make sure you brush well and go to the dentist every six months to prevent the cavities from actually forming!
