No, Local anaesthetic is given (that hurts a little!!) but the process does not. You do feel pulling and pushing during the procedure. After the anaesthetic wears off you do get some pain but it is quite manageable.

Root canals are the long passages full of soft tissue deep within the dentin of a tooth, adjoining the pulp chamber. In dentistry, a pulpectomy is an endodontic treatment to cure an infection of the root canal; informally a root canal. A root canal, coupled with internal tooth bleaching, is also used to fix teeth that have blackened because of infiltration of decayed soft tissue into the dentin in the teeth, most often seen in frontal incisors that have been injured through a sudden impact.

I can only tell you that when I had two Root Canals they were very infected. The Dentist gave me some strong antibiotics and packed my two teeth with something and sent me home for a few days. When she performed the procedure she reccommended nitric-oxide which would take the edge off of the pain of the nerves under the two teeth. The procedure was virtually pain-free, except a few slight but quick pains a few times.

I had Root Canal Treatment 6 months ago

Without anaesthetic.

The tooth is already 'nerveless' so will not feel any pain.

It was a painless operation and I thanked my Dentist afterwards.

It is something similar to getting three cavities filled. It just takes some time and the dentist is messing with your mouth.

the shot is the only little thing that hurts and it does hurt a little more than normal in the upper front areas. you won't feel a thing otherwise.
