Just wondering if anyone has had a tooth veneered,and if the procedure is ok. I go to my dentist regular so my teeth are good but he said one of my teeth wont come clean properley anymore due to staining,although there is nothing wrong with the tooth,so he offered me tooth veneering so it will blend in with the rest of my teeth. Would you advise having it done or just leave it?

I am guessing a bit here, and perhaps you can give me additional info if I'm heading in the wrong direction...
You state that your tooth is fine, but that it won't come clean anymore due to staining, and a veneer is suggested.
Does this mean your tooth is hard to clean, perhaps it's out of alignment with adjacent teeth, and therefore picks up staining easily? If so, then a veneer that brings it into line will help make it easier to clean on the outside, but it will make it thicker and harder to clean between teeth.
Is this just a superficial stain like coffee, that he can remove easily? Or is it a discolouration within the tooth surface?
Is the staining causing damage to your tooth, or is it just a bit unattractive?
Does it bother you?
If you're unsure, or if it's not doing damage, then I wouldn't suggest you unecessarily have a veneer. There can be some risks, and the veneer won't last forever, so why treat something that wasn't a problem in the first place? It doesn't sound like a good idea.

There's some questions that need to be asked first, I really don't think there's "nothing wrong with the tooth";

Why is the tooth not coming clean? Has the enamel been eroded? For what reason? Why is it just this tooth? Did he tell you what the shade of the tooth is according to the color scale they use?

If there is truly nothing wrong with the tooth, and the color of the tooth isn't that important to you, leave it alone. There's problems that are associated with veneers, just like any other dental work. Say you have a currently microscopic cavity. You can no longer clean the tooth. You can see where I'm going with this.

has he tried whitening the tooth or bleaching it.
veneers are okay it's like placing a face on top of your stained tooth the Dentist will grind on your permanent tooth and glue the facing on it.
has he tried composite to cover the tooth. veneers are expensive and last for about 10yrs.
unless you don't care about grinding on a good tooth and the expense go for it. but if the stain doesn't bother you leave it alone, or better yet check with another dentist, or the Internet. good luck.
