Your question is, "Do you know what a frenectomy is?" Since you had one, you know what it is, so I will simply answer your question.

Yes, I know what a frenectomy is. I do them to people often enough. :-)

A frenectomy is the removal of a frenum in your mouth. A frenum is the muscle attachment that attaches the underneath of the lip (or cheek) to the gum. Frenectomy's are most removed under the upper lip when braces are done because the muscle is so strong and will spread the two front teeth apart again once braces are removed.

In the mouth you will have labial (related to the lip) or lingual (related to the tongue) frenum. They both are tissue attachments. If either get in the way they are clipped (frenectomy). An example for either type needing to be clipped would be:
1. Gap (diastema) between the front teeth caused by a long labial frenum
2. Tongue tied...where the lingual frenum is attached to the tip of the tongue not allowing the tongue to move properly

A frenectomy is the removal of a frenulum, a small fold of tissue that prevents an organ in the body from moving too far. A frenulum can occur in several places on the human body.

The little thread of tissue under your lip is your frenum. A frenectomy is where a dentist cuts that tissue. It is done for many different reasons.

Well a Frenologist I thought was someone who specializes in the bumpiness and contours on the scalp, (referring to the movie "Men at Work" with Charlie Sheen) so maybe you had a bump removed on your head ?

It is the tissue attachment between your two front upper teeth. Usually it is removed if it is keeping your teeth separated.
