I'm really confused. Are they different or are they similar? What are the differences between alcoholism and alcohol abuse (if there are any)? Which one is worse?

my husbands uncle just found out that he has a hedritary blood disorder, that favors the boys and I guess its involving the prothrombin. his blood clots abnormally. he had a clot go thru his lungs and heart and survived. he has clots sitting somewhere, i cant remember, but its pretty serious. and the strange thing is, his kids, my husband, my husbands sister, my mother in law, a cousin, all have the same symptom-severe migraines...could this be a link? and if it is more receptive to the male side, then I should get my son checked out for this. he is only 13 months old right now. Wouldnt they have seen it when they did the blood tests when he was born? Any way, what is this disorder called and what is the prognosis (hope i used that p word right...haha)

I'm 18, I'm 5'0...my parents are 5'4 and 5'1..everyone in my family is taller than me; cousins, aunts, and including my younger sister who is 15...

I've heard that girls don't stop growing until they're 23...(which I hope is true) =]...But I don't know how much that will help me since I haven't grown much since I was 13..

Most people think I'll grow a little more since I have a 'baby face' and I don't look like I'm 18 yet...

Any suggestions on what to do to help myself grow? Or simply if I even have a chance of growing some more?

For several months I have had loose bowel movements, loose bowel movement with an oily substance, dark green firm movements and nausea has accompanied this along with weight loss and fatigue. I am unemployed and do not have insurance. I am a bit worried since it has not gone away and I am 40 yrs old. Could it be cancer or liver disease?

My long-time friend Francis confessed that he's in love with me. He said that he's been in love with me for three years now but he didn't know how to tell me because we're such good friends and he didn't want our friendship to be affected by his revelation. Last week, he finally had the courage to tell me how he feels because he had too much booze. Our friend Fred said that alcohol can really heighten up one's confidence level that it makes you do things that you normally couldn't. So, is it true?

i think it has something to do about cutting yourself?

2007-10-08 18:17:52 · 7 answers · asked by Anonymous in Injuries

My toddler got a bad cut on her hand. We had it stitched up. The doctor used dissolving stitches. It never looked like it was stitched well, it had big bulges between stitches, the skin seemed to overlap, etc. It looked a bit infected at her checkup last Thursday, and she has been taking medicine.

Now, the stitches are falling out. The skin is peeling, and it looks like it is falling apart! The overlapped part looks like it is just hanging there. Has this happened to anyone?

I am a student and I can not afford expeniseve groceries. I try to eat healthy, but it is really difficult. Wheat pasta, healthy ceriel, chicken breast, are all super expesive compared to the unhealthy alternatives. Even fresh fruit and vegetables are expensive. I cut coupons, but I can't go from store to store bargain shopping, as i do not have a car. Does anyone have any suggestions for healthy eating on a budget?

This is really important to me. My wedding is in less than a year, so i have to save money for that and loose the weight. By the way, please don't anyone tell me I'm beautiful the way I am. I know that. I am not unconfident, I am medically unhealthy and have a great deal of weight to loose to have a healthy BMI. I am doing this for my health not for aesthetics.

Also, my plan is to rotate a pliates DVD on MWF and an aerobic and weight training DVD on TTh. Is that a decent plan?

Any suggestions?
I have about 7 months to loose 50-90lbs.
Thanks!

How do tampons and pads differ when dealing with cramps? Does one give more relief when cramping really bad? I have the worst cramps and was wondering if I would get more relief if I wore pads instead of tampons.

My mom has vericose veins on her legs and about a month ago, one became very swollen and soar. She went to the Dr. and they did an ultrasound. No clotting. So he started giving her injections to break down the vericose veins but one of the veins became red and painful. She went back to him to let him know and he said that it's now a clot. He told her to take a blood thinner (bayer aspirin) and gave her an appt. to come back in two weeks. Now she has another swollen bump on the other leg. She is going back Thursday but I wonder if the Dr. is treating this seriously enough.

I heard that having ankle weights are bad for you even when you're walking; however, I want to know if having extremely light ankle weights will actually harm you too. I'm planning on wearing them in school because I do get to walk around between classes and lunch. As mentioned above, these weights weight 3/4 pound each, used only for walking, and I have experience in playing sports and being active from a young age to this point (I also have done a lot of stretching). Is it okay if I were wear these light ankle weights? Will it cause harm? Will I regret it? Thanks!

Can you wear a tampon the whole school day (8-3:15 pm) without changing it? I heard something about the toxic shock syndrome? Or something like that? Or was it just that one kind of tampon?

I hurt my knee somehow (and I don't know what it is), but I won't go into details. Over the long weekend, its been feeling better, and I want to keep it that way. I walk around a lot at school, so I'm afraid the pressure that walking puts on my knee but make the pain return. Basically, its just a little pain when I step, as I put pressure on it. Not throbbing or anything. But aside from sitting down as much as I can in class, whats the best way to walk by putting less pressure on my knee, without crutches or any kind of support?

My very close aunt committed suicide three months ago, and now I think about her incessantly. I'm starting to miss her so much I don't think I can handle it. It feels as though my heart is shattering into a million pieces that can't ever be fixed. These holes in my heart can't be replaced. My eyes are baggy and they ache, but I haven't cried. My once easily tempted smile has now become weighted down so much I can't even think of smiling. I miss my aunt so much. I was so used to calling her and emailing her when I wanted to talk. But now there's so much to say, but it's too late. I moan, but don't cry. I frown and think of all the things I want to say to her, but I don't cry. I miss her so, my heart is aching with grief.

This sorrow is breaking my heart.
