How do tampons and pads differ when dealing with cramps? Does one give more relief when cramping really bad? I have the worst cramps and was wondering if I would get more relief if I wore pads instead of tampons.

My flow is very heavy and the cramps tend to go away after the 3rd day. My menstrual lasts 5 days.

Yes you will if your flow is heavy. I found pads better as I suffered cramps so severe until the flow began. Cramping can be treated with panadol

If you have really bad cramps and midol does not work you should go to a gynecologist and she will prescribe you pills (like birth control pills) which work to relieve menstrual cramps. As for pads vs tampons, tampons tend to make your periods feel less heavy so they may relieve cramps very slightly, but definately not completely. Another negative about pads is that they can be messy.

Menstrual cramps or dysmenorrhea are independent of whatever you place in the vaginal canal. Cramps occur in the uterus which is a muscle also. The uterus contracts during menstruation and when too strong it presses on the blood supply of its surroundings causing the uterine wall to lack oxygen which produces more cramps. If you use tampoons and you have severe cramps with fever, you have to be sure it is not toxic shock syndrome due to infected tampoons.in the vagina.Any analgesic will do. People who exercise regularly have less cramps.

When you use a tampon it makes cramps worse. The reason is when you have cramps your uterus is basically squeezing to get the blood out and when it squeezes too hard it cause cramps. So when you have a tampon in the uterus is squeezing alot harder to get the blood out and results in worse cramps

I think that tampons offer a bit of relief... It is almost like pressure... Pads where just miserable last I tried them.

People are different. Try the pads and see whether you feel more comfortable. It's important to feel as comfortable as possible when you have cramps. I hope you have medication too.
