My 13 month old daughter bit me and broke the skin and now theres a nasty bruise where she bit me. Does she or I need a tetanus shot?

No, probably not. If it starts looking infected in the next day or two I'd have a doctor look at it. For now, just keep an eye on it, try applying some neosporin to it. Your daughter doesn't need a shot either. Take care! Hope all turns out well for you and baby! :)

I don't think you need a tetanus shot but did you bite her back? If you didn't, expect her to do it again! And I am not talking about breaking her skin or anything, just enough to let her know how teeth feel!

if you haven't had one in the past 10 years, it might be a good idea to go ahead and get one. your daughter should be fine.

wash the bite area well with warm water and mild soap. apply some neosporin and cover with a bandaid or wrap your arm in gauze to keep the germs out.

watch it closely for signs of infection which are

-increased redness or swelling to bite area
-the bite becomes more painful, tender, or hot to touch
-the bite begins to drain liquid of any kind (clear, green, or yellowish-brown in color. pus)
-you begin to run a fever of 100.5 or higher

these are all indications of infection and you'll need antibiotics to treat it. make an appt immediately with your dr.

hope this helps

Tetnus is not a likely outcome but infection is a definate possibility.

Keep the area clean and monitor it closely.

Make sure your daughter knows she hurt you and that what she did was very bad!

I had a daughter who was a "biter" at that age and it was VERY hard to break her of the habit.

No, but keep a close eye on the wound for redness around it, pus-like drainage, and unusual heat. Human bites are at high risk for infection.

I'd get your kid a mussel. What the heck are you teaching your kid that would make her bite like that?
