Patient: 51 year old, 5'2" approx. 165 lbs. Chronic, severe pain in left groin area (focusing on femur/hip bone). Unable to sit/stand for more than 10mins, extreme pain if walking/exercising, or normal activities; cannot lift leg up or sideways; sometimes hears/feels popping sound upon which there is a slight alleviation of pain; has had these symptoms for more than 1 year, current pain much worse; pain rated at 9 and constant (scale 1-10, 10 being the worst). xray of femur shows no fracture; pelvic mri is okay; patient was diagnosed last year w/ degenerative disc disease, slight pain in lower back but not serious; also has adnexal left cyst (no pain or symptoms); had surgery for hernia (doc assumed this was causing pain in groin area but this is not the case - pain still persisted before & after surgery & even a year later). orthopedic surgeon cannot determine cause, will run an mri to check hip bone/femur & therapy. can anyone share some insight - what could it be?

All the uproar over vaccinating girls for the HPV virus made me think. If there was a vaccine for the AIDS virus would people object to their children getting the vaccine? If so what makes it different from the HPV vaccine currently offered that people so vehemently oppose for their middle school daughters (an age before they begin being sexually active as to thus protect them whenever they become active weather it be 16, 26 or 36.)

So my question really is, if there was an AIDS vaccine and they were giving it to all 5th graders, would you object to your child recieving the vaccine?

I have just been diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome after ruling out everything else. First I was told it was carpal tunnel. I have a job where I have terrible working conditions and do repetitive work every day. Lots and lots of data entry with no keyboard, mouse or back support. I have not been in an accident or injured and I've done clerical work all my life and never had this until I started this job a year ago. I see it can be work related but of course my boss is giving me an attitude about the whole thing. I'm missing work for appt's and not getting paid. I feel this should go under workman's comp. I can barely sit at work . I need helo..I'm losing my mind. I'm getting harrassment at work over this. Now what? any suggestions? Thanks

My family has a long history of depression/bipolar disorder. I'm pretty certain that I have it, too. My parents, on the other hand, don't think so (and WILL NOT think so) because my symptoms, (though proven to be symptoms of bipolar disorder) are not the same as everyone else's in my family. They've read internet sites about symptoms and everything, but refuse to acknowledge that I may have it. How can I convince them to take me to someone who knows what they're doing?

I am seriously overweight and this is the year for me to change - I have already changed my *diet*/eating habits drastically - out went all the choccy/crisps/junk food/fizzy drinks. So far, so good. Unfortunately, last year, I slipped a disc and I am scared to carry out certain exercises as I still have no sensation down my leg. Plus, I have PCOS (which screws around with my girly hormones too) - Am I a lost cause?! *haha* I was truly inspired by last year's *THE BIGGST LOSER UK* - Jodie looked incredible at the end and infinitely happier for it! So; from a medical standpoint - what's the next step for me, please...? *All answers appreciated -THANK YOU*

Why is fast food so tempting after you drink?

I think this is the main reason that people get beer bellies! It is not so much the calories in the beer , but what crap you eat after!

There is pain on one side of upper and lower teeth when cold water is being drunk. There is no lack of hygienic care of teeth like brushing twice daily. I don't think it is a sign of gingivitis. What could be the problem? Greatly appreciate if you could advice.

About 2 months ago I started eating very healthy (organic produce, whole grains etc.). About two weeks later I started an exercise program and have slowly progressed to being able to do a pretty decent workout. I workout 4 days a week for around an hour to an hour and a half. I make sure that I have enough calories and that I get the correct servings of everything from the food groups and I get enough protein. I am also taking a good women's multi vitamin everyday. I have even lost 25 lbs (Yea me!!). My problem is I feel horrible. I am tired all the time and am constantly having cold-like symptoms like headaches and congestion. I should feel better than I ever have. My starting weight was 216 lbs and the foods I was eating are so bad I don't even want to talk about it! I had bloodwork done in December to check blood sugar, thyroid and iron levels and they were all fine. I've also had allergy testing and nothing showed up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Okay I'm really worried because I've had a nipple rash on my right nipple for a while and I am really, really worried about it cause I finally worked up the guts to google it and it sounds like Paget's disease but that can't happen! I'm only thirteen and it says Paget's Disease happens to women between 63-66. And it's nowhere near as scary looking as the advanced ones even though I think I've had it for over a year.

I'm like, panicking right now. Oh yes and I have always had eczema, on my inner elbows, inner knees, eyebrows.
nothing stupid like 'thats gross' because i know... and it's really not helpful when i'm seriously considering the fact that i might have brreast cancer and might die before i turn 20.
AHHHH
help help help

It seems by the time I get to bed everynight it's time to wake up again so I try to sleep as late as possible, not leaving time for breakfast. What are some healthy breakfast foods that I can eat on the go? I really hate eating sweets in the morning so that means no shakes, granola, or anything else that is even slightly sweet to taste. I also don't eat meat (seafood and dairy are okay)
If I had time, I'd scramble egg whites with chopped veggies and eat it with toast. So...any portable suggestions?? I know I'm a picky eater so thanks in advance for your help.

I have read when you do not eat enough your body goes into starvation mode and you will actually become "fatter"- % of body composition is made up more of fat- because your body is burning lean muscle. Is this true?
If so, if you are to excercise - cardio and light weights-would you lose body fat and maintain lean muscle?
