It depends from drink to drink. From a purely alcoholic point of view, 1g of alcohol contains 7 calories.
So a pint of beer at 5%ABV would have 159 calories purely from its alcoholic content [((568ml x 5%) x 0.8g/ml) x 7 calories]. On the other hand, a large glass of red wine at 12.5%ABV would have 175 calories from its alcoholic content [((250ml x 12.5%) x 0.8g/ml) x 7 calories]. However, the amount of sugars and carbs contained in each drink varies a lot, and beer being derived from grains does tend to have a lot more carbs and get more calories from that source. So on the average, though by volumne wine may have more alcoholic calories, beer tends to have more calories as a whole due to its carbs content.
As for the eating of junk food, it's a well known fact that alcohol stimulates hunger. It's the body's reaction to the lethargy that alcohol enduces - your body feels tired so it thinks it needs to get more energy by eating.

Red wine is definitely less fattening than beer, and probably even less fattening than vodka and orange juice. This is because both beer and orange juice have a lot of sugar in them, which the body will turn into fat if it can't use up the energy straight away.
You probably crave fast food as your body is calling out for foods that have immediate impact on the body - saturated fats, salt, sugar etc, to help it cope with the alcohol. Fast foods have all that!
It's best to eat a proper and more healthly meal *before* you drink :o)

Depends on the quantities.
The least fattening of all is Whiskey and Water - the only recommended alcohol drink for diabetics - no sugar - however will still pickle your liver though and aid anti social behaviour.
Perhaps if you downed a pint of milk after that would stop the hunger - however it may not help your waist line.
