It's not the sugar, it's the carbs.
The amount of carbs is different in every person.
A two yr old would not need as many as an Olympic athlete.
An 80 yr old will need a different amount than a 40 yr old pregnant woman.
That question cannot be answered.

there is not a set number but a type 1 does need to know how much insulin per carb. I am a type 1 and I just adjust my insulin and I eat like I did before diabetes.

It depends on your insulin intake and doctors/nutritionists decision. I am a Type I diabetice also :] But my doctors set my meal plan up for me. So I can have whatever carbs at certain times only. Now if you have a pump it doesn't matter. Just talk with your doctor and set up a plan to suit your insulin and cravings.

Consult with your certified diabetes educator. There is no set maximum. One needs to balance one's nutritional needs with one's insulin therapy - and that is continually variable as the person ages.

That is a question for your endocrinologist and nutritionist. I'm on a pump, and technically I am able to eat what I want, I just have to take insulin for it. Obviously, you want to try to eat healthy just for health's sake.
