Other than soy butter, as I do not eat soy either. I'm looking for something that is similar in texture and taste to butter, for spreading on food, cooking french toast, etc.

I had this discussion last night and I think it is immoral to have a ral Christmas tree. It is killing life for no reason, but then an artifcial tree may have animal by products. Should Christmas then be banned since it is immoral either way?

It's to tear through tough veggies like carrots, celery, and potatoes..not to tear through animal flesh.

If I placed you buck naked in the wild next to a hungry wild animal such as a cyote...tiger(must be a meat eater and very hungry) you wouldn't be able to defend yourself...meaning we were not designed by_______fill in blank to be on top of the food chain. We aren't able to hunt properly for meat with bare hands/we weren't designed to eat it because we can't properly catch it. We can however catch a banana in a tree because that won't run or try to defend it's self now will it.

I'm against meat-eating, but if you want to argue your 'right' to eat meat, why not at least do this? Convicted murderers on death row are anesthesized before lethal injection (sodium pentothal, followed by pancuronium bromide and potassium chloride). We are able to be humane to convicted killers, but not innocent animals?

living things too.

I'm just curiouse because I might because Vegetarian for the health benefits.

But to the ones that don't want to hurt living things I don't quite get because plants are very alive.

It's just a question and I'm not being mean.

Thanx

I heard that vegans don't drink milk and don't use wool.

I don't get it because the calves get the milk too and I never heard of milking cows hurting them.

For wool they just shave the fur off the sheep and it grows back?

Is it just your preference than or are there different types of vegans?

I am a meat eater myself but I have people have told me they are vegitarians but eat chicken and fish.

They say chicken is "poultry" and fich is fish.

I say if it is a dead animal than it's meat.

so how far does the animal exploitation thing go, as far as vegan do's and don'ts? I have a dog, rescued from an animal shelter 6 years ago. He's great with the family but bites strangers and other dogs. When I take him out he wears a leash and is only let off when there's no one around for him to bite. I tell him what to do i.e. come here, sit, stay, etc. He seems really happy to me. I wonder what the general opinion is on the leash and the training? I'm asking since the opinions I got on horse riding being exploitation, which fair enough, it is; although I don't think every horse involved is terribly miserable for it. But what about the dog, does vegan values say I should let him run riot biting people and peeing in the house? I'm wondering where the line is drawn, the 'me guy' seems to think it's a clear, bold line, but maybe it's more fuzzy. While people continue to support the animal trade the abandoned ones will still have to be trained in their new homes.

..... animals are actually here to be eaten??

I really don't mean to annoy people, nor to wind anyone up, before anyone thinks I am not serious - I have been vegetarian for 20 years now - initially in my teens on 'principle' but this was helped by the fact that I didn't really enjoy meat.

Now, having thought about it and considered all life's meanings and purposes, i really do see all animals as part of the food chain and am certain fish, chickens, sheep etc are all just fresh, walking dinner - but I still don't like the idea of eating it, so I don't. My children and my husband do.

I was having a chat with some friends today who thought I was probably the only veggie on the planet who thought this - am I?? There must be more people with the same view? Not that I need solidarity - just wondered :-)

I read an article where vegans where claiming that riding a horse was abusing the horse. I agree that years of specific breeding and training to produce an animal that will allow you to sit on it is very un-vegan. But I got wondering...suppose a vegan rescued a horse from an animal sancuary and say it wasn't exactly a tough one you could put out to roam around in a field, say an ex-showjumper or racehorse. Its particular breed made it need to be kept indoors much of the time and needed horse feed because too much grass would make it sick and the animal was generally about as far from a wild horse as you could get. Is it vegan to excercise the horse by riding it (providing you can get non-leather tack) or should you just chase it around a field to make it run for excercise, bearing in mind by the way its been bred it will become ill through lack of excercise.

We've seen some staggering changes from "troll" to confirmed "vegetarian" in this forum recently.

Would you think a vegetarian would run a meat sales business or would you regard it as cynical and hypocrytical ?

Just as a random example opf a meat business, would a vegetarian run a business like this:
http://www.lincsprimefresh.co.uk/

The meat industry really must be getting slack if the trolls can afford to spend so much time on here pretending to be vegetarians.

I'm craving a hamburger. I'm tired. I'm cold. I eat lots of dark green veggies, but I am so tempted to go to the nearest grille and indulge in a hamburger. I know I'd feel awful and I'd have stomach cramps and everything because I haven't had seared flesh in a very long time. Any ideas on how to load up on iron?
