We've seen some staggering changes from "troll" to confirmed "vegetarian" in this forum recently.
Would you think a vegetarian would run a meat sales business or would you regard it as cynical and hypocrytical ?
Just as a random example opf a meat business, would a vegetarian run a business like this:
http://www.lincsprimefresh.co.uk/
The meat industry really must be getting slack if the trolls can afford to spend so much time on here pretending to be vegetarians.

Mr Meat, is your first paragraph mis-quoting me on purpose for comic effect or something ?
I never said i sold hay for the specific fattening of calves. You are mistaken.

MrMeat quoted me as saying i solf hay for fattening of calves, Meg says I sold hay for cattle who are to be slaughtered.
They both can;t be accurate quotes, can they ?
I think I said, i sold hay to a farmer.
The rest is in your imaginations
I'm a farmer, i use hay and i don't fatten or slaugher cattle

Here you go, here is the actual quote you were thinking off:
but i do produce hay, straw, beets etc as by-products of my cereals and pasture. So what do i do with them ?? Just burn them, or put them up for sale ?? Would it really be right to burn 3,000 bales of hay

Where in my words does it say "he sold 3000 bales of hay to a person who fattens cattle" or "you sold 3000 bales of hay to someone who feeds it to cattle and then slaughters them."

Think those who've replied so far are missing Michael's point.
The question is in response to this and similar questions:

This obviously wasn't posted by a convert to vegetarianism - the link given is to his business - not his employer's, his.

Most vegetarians would not run such a business. But it depends on why they are vegetarian. Some people are veggie because of health reasons or simply that they don't like the taste and so it wouldn't go against their ethics to sell meat. Most vegetarians would also work in a place which as part of its business sells meat such as a restaurant or supermarket, but would likely request not to be asked to stock the meat aisles or work the deli counter.

Actually, I read the same thing Michael. I do recall specifically you said you sold 3000 bales of hay to someone who feeds it to cattle and then slaughters them.
In fact, I recall specifically your justification was "What do you expect me to do, burn them" in reference to the 3000 bales.
I recall that specifically and unequivocally. Mainly because the rationalization was so unbelievabley transparent that I couldn't believe someone would be in such depths of denial of the incongruity. It was a bizarre statement. So I was very surprised to see your screen name attached to such a question and decided to look in.
I may disagree with Mr. Meat with using the analogy Zyklon B to kill persons to your selling hay to someone who kills cattle, NOT because of the inaccuracy of the analogy, but just because of the difference between animals and humans. However, it is a good analogy otherwise.
I sincerely believe that you should be the last one one to pose such a question.
MICHAEL: Why don't you just provide the links to your RESOLVED questions that contains those quotes? Then , ALL of us could read if for ourselves. OK? Why you didn't just provide the links, I'll never know. It's so much simpler to do so, don't you think?
It should be easy to provide the links since you typed a lot about it. I recall that there is more than one question in which you mentioned selling hay to feed cattle destined for slaughter.
Engaging in sophistry Michael doesn't change the bottom line. Cattle were killed and you provided the hay that fed them. It's the Zyklon B Gas analogy. And more importantly, you KNEW it! First, you deny it, now you challenge what quote was "accurate". It's very puzzling, Michael. But having the links to the RESOLVED questions will certainly clear up the disagreement. Don't you agree?

No but the point many people are making is that you know well and good where the hay you are selling is going to go... if you didnt you would have a problem with selling it you would be inquiring about it
if you are going to ask a question you need to be open to the answer you are "wanting" to recieve... it seems like you are arguing for the sake of arguing - eat a steak buddy

I would imagine that depends on their reasons for being a vegetarian, as well as what you consider a meat sales business. For instance, if it's just for health reasons, I don't see why they wouldn't do so just for profit.
A vegan friend of mine runs a restaurant which does sell many meals with meat as the main component. However, they only purchase from small farms where as minimal cruelty as possible is used.

It depends. If the vegetarian is poor and has few ways to earn an income, meat might be their way of bringing in more than a few bucks a day. Meat is higher-priced than fruits and veggies, after all. I, however, am not poor and would only sell meat in the form of pet food.

I find it hard to believe that a vegetarian could run a meat buisness. The smell of the meat and the sight of it all day would surely start to make their stomach uneasy. I don't have trouble walking by the butcher section at the grocery but if I had to spend any amount of time there it would begin to get to me. I can't believe that a vegetarian could spend all day around dead flesh and not be bothered... if not morally, then just by the smell alone.

Perhaps it depends for what reasons they don't eat meat.
If it's for religious reasons where you won't eat meat because it means you are commiting a sin, and therefore you won't have a good afterlife, then thats plausible because other people are going to eat meat from you, not you eating it yourself. If you don't eat meat because you are against cruelty to animals, then it's unlikely you will 'run' your own meat sales business.
Anyway, anything is possible no matter how unlikely it may be.

I'm sure there's a whole mix of people working in a supermarket. You can't give up your employment just because you eat differently.
