My basset likes to find fresh fallen apples, and eats them. I've never had a dog that was so interested in foraging for fruit. She looks pretty cute trotting around with a whole apple in her mouth.

I eat heaps of fruit :) But, i don't eat many veggies. I don't take vitamins either...i've noticed that if i forget to take two in a row, i tend to get sick...no coincidence!

I'm a vegetarian, and breasfteeding - so its very important i get all my nutitional needs. I try to eat veggies high in iron & nuts when I can.

But iron aside, can i just eat more fruit? I'm a very, very picky eater...

I hear stories all the time of vegetarians sneaking fake soy "beef" crap into their families dinner and then revealing it's not really animal? That's kinda stupid don't you think? Vegetarians always preach about principles but willingly decieving your family into eating fake stuff. Oh and they say all you need to do is prepare it right and it tastes the same. Bull!! Even if someone were even to make it taste remotely the same it would take a lot more than just a little preperation!

the ingredients from the back of the container.: tomato puree (water, tomato paste), water, wheat, flour, high fructose corn syrup, contains less than 2% of the following : salt, ascorbic acid (added to help retain color), flavoring, citric acid.

now, don't really base your answer on the ingredients. and please, i'm looking for answers from strict vegetarians and vegans. if you are NOT a follower of the lifestyle, please say so in your answer. but the ones who follow it very closely are the ones who i'm really looking for, and they are the ones that will know for sure.

also, if it IS vegetarian, is it vegan?

thanks.

this is mine...

"We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals. Remote from universal nature, and living by complicated artifice, man in civilization surveys the creature through the glass of his knowledge and sees thereby a feather magnified and the whole image in distortion. We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein we err, and greatly err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth."
Henry beston

What's yours?

I want to stop, or at least limit my meat intake. Bare in mind, I still love meat, but I just don't feel like it's very good for me to consume as much meat as I do. Does anyone have any tips on creating healthy, and filling vegetarian meals? I'm also worried about not getting the protein.
Thanks for the help!

that uses balls that have been made with animal products? Should we vegans not attend or play these sports? Do you think sports should be banned for this reason?

People say they are vegetarians but they still eat fish. They may not eat beef, pork, chicken, etc. but they still eat fish. I don't follow! A fish is a live animal that must lose it's life in order for a human to eat it. Where did this come from? And why do people think this way? Have they NEVER done research on vegetarianism?

I am a bit confused about this because sometimes people tell me that if I eat fish... then I am not a vegetarian.

"will i get protein"
"will i be anemic"

i've been meat free for 3 days and i don't get paid for another 5 days so i don't have money to buy any kind of vitamins or meat substitutes. do you think i'll be okay on iron for the next few days or do i need to talk to my parents about borrowing a couple dollars?

I been really thinking about it & have seriously considered of giving up meat for a week or two & eat only veggies during that time. I have read stuff about how Vegetarians feel more healthier than those who eat meat so i want to at least try it out & see if i will feel any different during that 1 or 2 week period. Any suggestions of some good veggie food to eat during that time? If i do feel healthier i may consider eating less meat. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
