I hear stories all the time of vegetarians sneaking fake soy "beef" crap into their families dinner and then revealing it's not really animal? That's kinda stupid don't you think? Vegetarians always preach about principles but willingly decieving your family into eating fake stuff. Oh and they say all you need to do is prepare it right and it tastes the same. Bull!! Even if someone were even to make it taste remotely the same it would take a lot more than just a little preperation!

Thank you christy! How would they like it if we snuck baby deer into their corn?

I like to put meat into vegetarians food and tell them it's animal free. It tickles me for some reason.

LMAO!!!!!!

Thanks Gilbert (Do you attend Gilbert High in AZ?)...but honestly, I've never done that but it would make me giggle none the less. I have accidentally given a Muslim pork though in some beans I cooked. He loved them. I didn't think about it until he started eating them and didn't have the heart to say anything. I hope Mohammed forgives him.

Look at all those thumb downs. Vegetarians are so cranky..geez!

Well, I have to agree those fake meats and such don't taste that good...and no matter what you do they still taste like fake whatever(beef,chicken...). They don't taste the same...and if they only way they wouldn't know is if they eat the whole thing in one bite..don't take the time to taste the food.

The reason I have done this though is so many people are so fast to say they are ____fill in blank... They think they are going to taste like cardboard or something and they don't. I don't eat them but maybe once every month...normally not even that....but some are quite good. And for someone who needs to cut back on meat...have heart disease or something and need to lower thier colesteral intake..they can be a good option...but no one is willing to just try them.

Now I have only done this with family but....as much as soy is in everything I would assume you'd know if someone were allergic. Soy is in almost everything...look at the ingreadients next time of things you eat. It's in EVERYTHING. Still you shouldn't do it unless you really know the person.

As to them sticking meat in our food...we gave that up willingly...to a meateater them eating a veggie burger is about the same as trying a new food.

I don't feel the need to sneak anything into anyones food. When I cook vegetarian food for myself I don't mind if someone wants to try it. If they do not want to eat it just because it is vegetarian, its their loss. I know that vegetarian food taste good, no need to prove it to some narrow minded individuals who refuse vegetarian food just because it is different.

There are a lot of vegetarian dishes that do not require a ton of prep to make them taste the same. Most dishes get their flavors from spices, sauces, etc, therefore if you prepare it the same but don't use meat it taste the same.

I'm sorry, you're so irrational.

Are you actually implying that eating something that's plant-based (horrors!) violates meat-eaters' morals? How is that in any way comparable to sneaking meat into a vegetarian's food and possibly making them sick??

If you had ever tried to cook a meal made of something other than dead animals, you'd know it's far easier than frying/battering/sauteeing whatever you eat.

everyone moans about how discusting it is. But they haven't even tried it and are too stuck in their ways to even try vegetarian stuff.
and Christy L that's just harsh. Just cz ur cruel and horrible enough to eat a poor defenseless and victimized animal doesn't mean we all r.

I have known many vegetarians and never heard one suggest doing that. I myself eat TSP products because I like the way they taste, even though I'm not vegetarian.

Uh, did this ever happen to you?

You remind me of my brother before his doctor put him on Lithium. He once went on a 45 minute tirade about not having enough dark socks.

My wife tried to give me weaker coffee one time because she thought it was better for me. Now I make my own coffee. So what.

You must have a very privileged life if this is the biggest injustice you can think of.

Ne ways if I was to choose the best answer it would either be stimpson, christy, or Chef. Although the person with the most thumbs up will win cause my other account was deleted. GO GILBERT HIGH!!

I hope you don't think all vegetarians do this, because that would be a rather rude thing to do. I always make sure I tell people exactly what's in my recipes when they ask and if I make it a way that would be weird to non-vegetarians I make sure I point out how it's different.

I whole heartedly agree with you on that one.

How would they feel if you made them steamed veggies and used chicken stock? Or told them it was soy "hamburger" crumbles in the spaghetti sauce and it was actually ground chuck?

Same prinicipal. Deceiving someone is not the way to bring them around to your way of thinking.

i've been veg for 17 years and i've never done that, and none of my veg friends have ever even suggested doing that that ive heard. I o however refuse to mke people any fod ith animal products in it because it grosses me out, if they want it, they can make it themselves and clean up after themselves.
