that uses balls that have been made with animal products? Should we vegans not attend or play these sports? Do you think sports should be banned for this reason?

Gotta love someone who responds "go play in traffic." Sheesh.

My two cents as a vegan:

You can't eliminate or avoid ALL aspects of life that involve animal exploitation. Not unless you want to lock the door and stay at home. Maybe not even then. Just like you can't possibly boycott all companies that sell some sort of animal-derived products (not considering how many companies are owned by parent companies, affiliates, etc.) Just pick the big issues - eating meat, milk and dairy...not wearing leather, etc. But to nitpick every little thing will just annoy the (*)(*)*)*^&*) out of everyone else, make your life miserable, and not accomplish a thing. Being an amiable, easygoing vegan wins more converts, and that's what you want - right?

If you're going to be serious about it, you won't be able to watch ANY sports. What about baseball "gloves"?
Actually, what about your shoes, belt, some makeup and lipstick. Why just pick on sports?...You can't be a hypocrite, make sure what's on your person and in your house is cleaned up first.
THAT, you have some control over.
I think your taking on a little too much by trying to encourage vegans to try to ban sports....Lighten up a little bit.
Vegetables take up an awful lot of the animals natural habitat so they can grow. You've taken away their homes.
I'd venture to say that a Vegan is just as responsible for the death of animals as a meat eater is... Not counting the chemical fertilizers and pesticides that farmers have to use to grow them.
Yeh, I know about organic vegetables, it's great, it also is about 5% of the veggies in the supermarket.

I think attending a sports event doesn't usually contribute money in any way to a cruel industry. If you don't buy hot dogs, and you know they don't buy uniforms and sporting equipment from ticket revenues, I don't see the problem.

Ha! That'll be the day, when something is BANNED for not being vegan, especially a SPORT. I wish.

omg..carl r...you are the biggest ignoramus... complaining about the pesticide that are used on veggies ....what about the pesticide that are used on grains that the vast majority go to feed cattle and other livestock. most of the farmers in the country grow corn...with majority going to feed cows, which as we all probably know have a crazy inefficient ratio for pounds of meat you get per pound of corn fed. and why is he talking about make up and belts??? vegans dont use animal tested or byproduct containing makeup..and they certainly dont wear leather?? wierd-o. anyway when i buy balls for sports, i just buy the synthetic kind. but for going to a sporting event, like others said, its your range of comfort level. so while it is nearly impossible to be 100% vegan unless your 100% self sufficient, just do your best!

It is impossible to be 100% vegan. If refraining from sporting events makes you feel better, fine. But most people can't cut everything out of their lives. After awhile, it becomes less about "strict vegan rules" and more about personal choices.

I don't go to many sporting events because the tickets are ridiculously expensive and I really hate the idea of lining the pockets of greedy sports owners and jerkoff players. You could always go to a hockey game--oh, no! I'm afraid the players' boots and gloves might be leather. But, hey, some arenas and stadiums now offer vegetarian options in their also-overpriced concessions.

You are making us vegans look bad, Ashley, dear. Please, please cut it out.

You know, I tried to hold back and and understand you people but I gotta say -- you are ALL going completely off the deep end. Are you going to shun anyone that wears leather shoes and belts? If your boss wanted to take your team to lunch would you have to decline because he has leather seats in his car? Would you throw away the family Bible because it is bound in leather?
Damn....

Your wheat causes the deaths of millions of field animals. Just eat some chicken and get over it.
