Vegetarian & Vegan - December 2006

My family is not vegetarian, but my sister-in-law, who is visiting, does not eat meat. So I asked her what she liked and she said spinach lasagna. I asked my husband how to make it and he just said instead of meat add spinach. Well duh, lol, but do I add the spinach into the toamto sauce, or do I layer it on the cheese. I just want to know how to layer this lasagna? Thanks for any help.

There are news articles pointing out that vegetarians are smarter on average than meat eaters. My guess is that a good part of that has to be with the fact that smarter people make more money and thus can afford to be vegetarians.. Isn't the size of our brains and our advanced intelligence due to the introduction of meat into our diets?

I've been a vegan for around two years now (vegetarian before for 8 years), and though I am extremely content with how my lifestyle has changed, both in its morally uplifting qualities and health benefits, I still continue to be harassed by friends. It starts out as a joke I guess because I'm the only vegan I know, but it tends to continue indefinitely.

I'm asking this because I'm wondering if I'm the only one that seems to be going through with this. What do you do in a situation that there's a pizza in the room and everyone's literally shoving it in your face? Do you back away or try to deal with it another way?

I'm some kind of vegetarian I think since I don't eat meat lol. I've eaten like this since I was eight lol .. which is weird b.c my whole family eats meat .. but anyways ..

I don't eat any meat & no seafood.

I do eat milk & eggs tho.

My policy is if it had a face & they killed it to make the food, I don't eat it! I love animals.

Sooo what kind of vegetarian is that ?

Would you agree with this? Can one achieve optimal nutritional health if they were to be mostly vegetarian? Eating vegetarian say 5 or 6 days a week?

I know this isn't a balanced diet especially since she works out 4 times a week and only does cardio. How can I explain to her that she needs other foods in her diet, such as a website?
She has tea and a banana/apple for breakfast, snacks on baby carrots and an apple all day, and has a bowl of Special K for dinner.
Oh, she is also very tired throughout the day even though she gets 7hrs of sleep and must take a nap to avoid feeling sick.

I was very not away that cane sugar is made from animal bones? Is this true? If so how do you make sure that the sugar you are eatting does not involve that? I am really confused. Does that mean that everything I eat, vegetarian or not, involves some type of animal product if it has sugar in it?

Has anyone ever had Tofutti Ice Cream? I just bought some from the grocery store and am kind of scared to try it haha. I got the butter pecan. I am vegetarian but am considering becoming vegan so I'm trying random vegan foods.
