I made that decision as a adult so I just stated and they respected it. Now what if I would have made that decision as a child, well it would have been hard to outside relatives as opposed to the nuclear family. Just kindly share with your parents that you KNOW how to handle the balance of vitamins (especially the B vitamins), nutrients, side effects and that you're not going into BLINDLY. I'm assuming you've done your homework.

I became a a full-on vegetarian in 6th grade. It wasn't a totally easy road though...my parents weren't very excited about it because I was still growing and they didn't think it was healthy for a kid. What i did was I told them that i really didn't want to eat meat, but that I would still stay healthy. I offered to take iron pills because of the large risk of anemia. We have had our fair share of fights too. In the beginning, my mom would occasionally make me eat a bite of chicken, but one night at dinner, I refused to eat it. That was when she really understood! Since then I haven't eaten a bite of meat, and I do feel much healthier (eating a lot more fruits and vegetables.) One thing you could show your parents are all of the different meat substitutes. There are fake chicken patties, chicken nuggets, sausage patties, ground beef, hot dogs, hamburgers, bacon...practically any meat product out there is available in a tofu or soy version!
I hope it all gets worked out!

Just tell your parents (preferably the one who'll be more accepting) that you want to go vegetarian for *insert reasons here (animal rights, healthier, dislike of meat, cheaper, etc)* at a time when you are on good terms with them and you have some time to talk. They can't make you eat anything that you don't want to, and you can tell them that you know how to keep a healthy diet (assuming that you do, having been veg for two years already) and will provide for yourself if they don't feel like cokking two meals. And if they have any other problems with it or questions about it you can find them something online, be it about health, difficulty to find things, protein sources, or whatever. And if you want to tell them the truth that you've become veg in the time since you were outside their house, then do it! It's not like you were going against their wishes, is it?
Well anyways, good luck!

I'm not vegetarian, but I've had experience in telling my parents things they didn't want to know or hear. The best thing is to sit them down and tell them in a mature manner. If they really love you, they won't care. If you're mom thorws a temper tantrum, don't retort. That will jsut turn it into a big fight. Besides, it's not that major of a thing.

Whats the big deal. Being a vegetarian is nothing new to people. It is less expensive than eating meat all of the time. I have three kids and don't belive I would ever hav a problem with any of them being a vegiatarian.

if you feel more comfortable telling your father then tell him...you shouldnt have to eat meat if you dont want it...honestly it would be a stupid reason to get mad at your kid for being a vegetarian for the past 2 years....it's up to you but if i were you i would talk to dad...maybe he can break it to mom better...you know what i mean? Good luck And stay Healthy!

it's so weird to me how threatened people get by the fact that someone else wants to become vegetarian. what skin is it off their back? seriously. just tell them. your not eating meat is not going to kill anyone, nor will it be the end of the world. if they really get that bent out of shape about it, then i think it's time for a maturity check.

First, try to get a friend over there to explain it with you. You then tell your dad you need some advice. Say " I know this friend who wants to become a vegitarian. If that was your son would you be ok with it? If he says yes then ask him to break it to your mom. If he says no, then show him this website, trust me , he will probably understand.

tell them now. the longer you wait the wrose it will be.
and if you explain to them why you want to be a vegetarian they will probably respect that as logn as you can prove that you can get a diet with enight protein ( my dad only lets me be a vegetarian becasue i make sure i get enough tofu and stuff like that and he respects what i am doing. just talk to them)
